Taare Zameen Par - Taare Zameen Par

Playback - Shankar Mahadevan, Bugs Bhargava, Vivinenne Pocha

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi

Taare Zameen Par is Aamir Khan's debut film as producer and director and he looks nice even at 40+ and very similar to what he looked in Dil Chahta Hai.. nice look and nice film :)

This one though, looks a little more serious.. though I would assume there would be a fun element to it as well considering there are kids in the movie.

Coming to this song, the initial beats with which the song starts actually gives me the feeling of the stars coming down, darkness and the stars twinkling and the moon shining bright!

It's got nice music that sounds peaceful and melodious.

I like the way Shankar Mahadevan takes the verses high.. nicely done.. first soft and slow and then increasing the beat one notch..

If you pay attention to the music.. it reminds me of moments from the film "Swades" .. I think it's the sound of the shehenai..

The nice lines are:

Jaise Aankhon Ki Dibiya Mein Nindiya
Aur Nindiya Mein Meetha Sa Sapna
Aur Sapne Mein Mil Jaaye Farishta Sa Koi
Jaise Rangon Bhari Pichkari
Jaise Titliyan Phoolon Ki Kyari
Jaise Bina Matlab Ka Pyara Rishta Ho Koi

Like.. you tell children bed time stories and then.. if you be good, there will be a nice angel that will do you good :)

How cute!

Yeh To Aasha Ki Lehar Hain
Yeh To Ummeed Ki Sehar Hain
Khusiyon Ki Nehar Hain
Kho Na Jaaye Ye Taare Zameen Par

Kabhi Baatein Jaise Dadi Nani
Kabhi Chalkein Jaise Mum Mum Paani
Kabhi Ban Jaaye Bhole
Sawaalon Ki Jhadi
Sannatey Mein Hansee Ke Jaise
Sooney Hothon Pe Khushi Ke Jaise
Yeh To Noor Hain Barse Gar Teri Kismat Ho Badi

Jaise Jheel Mein Lehraye Chanda
Jaise Bheed Mein Apne Ka Kandha
Jaise Manmauji Nadiya
Jhaag Udaye Kuch Kahe
Jaise Baithe Meethi Si Jhapki
Jaise Pyar Ki Dheemi Si Thapki
Jaise Kaanon Mein Sargam
Hardam Bajti Hi Rahe
Jaise Barkha Udati Hai Bundiya...

There is light at the end of the tunnel.. don't give up :)

It's a sweet melody, do hear it!

Aaja Nachle - Aaja Nachle

Playback - Sunidhi Chauhan

Music - Salim - Sulaiman

Lyrics - Jaideep Sahni & Piyush Mishra

Aaja Nachle, the title song of the film more than a delight to the ears, is a delight to the eyes.

It's great to watch Madhuri Dixit dance so well and with such grace and ease.

Sunidhi Chauhan has sung the song well & it's been brilliantly choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant (current judge of Nach Baliye 3 on Star Plus)

The song's actually a teaser of some sort in the film, to attract audiences to watch the final act.

There is also a Reprise version of the song which has a little more beat to it.. some sort of remix version so to say which is also nice.

There's also been this silly controversy regarding one particular line in the song (not like your hurting the sentiments of a particular religion or someone in particular!! I personally think, it's just simple publicity that people want by doing silly things like this, and yea.. the song has been edited , courtesy...)

And for the benefit of people who still haven't made it to the theater to watch, here's a snippet :

Ishq Hua - Aaja Nachle

Playback - Sonu Nigam & Shreya Ghoshal

Music - Salim - Sulaiman

Lyrics - Jaideep Sahni & Piyush Mishra

This song's picturised on Konkona Sen & Kunal Kapoor in the film and how love blossoms between them while they're working in and as Laila - Majnu to save Ajanta a place for Art & Theater where Madhuri learnt dance and is now back to save it from demolition.

I think it's a really sweet, soft and melodious song.. well sung by Sonu Nigam - as usual :)

From the song, I like the lines:

Kadmo ko sambhale
Nazaro ka kya karein

Nazro ko sambhale
to Dil ka kya karein

Kadmo ko sambhale
Nazaro ka kya karein

Dil ko sambhale zubaan
Ishq hua hi hua

Esi chale jab hawa
Ishq hua hi hua

Sweet song, do get it if still don't have it.. and yes, Madhuri Dixit looks gorgeous as usual even at 42 and being a mother of 2!! I'm inspired :)

Deewangi - Om Shanti Om

Playback - Shaan & Sunidhi Chauhan

Music - Vishal-Shekhar

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Watched the film yesterday and I personally think this song is the BEST part of the entire film!

Starry, classy and musical! I was also impressed to see that all the actors got enough footage in the song and it wasn't like a blink and miss appearance for anyone!
Well done Farah Khan!

Love the signature step of the song and yea.. the lines

All the hot girls put your hands up and sing Om Shanti Om
All cool boys come on make some noise and sing Om Shanti Om

The music of the film is nice and Bollywood.. but I feel sad I missed Ajab Si - yes missed the first 15 minutes of the film!

Nice song, OK film..

Jia Re - Zindagi

Playback - Zubeen Garg

Music - Alaap (Dudul Saikia)

Lyrics - Ravi

Just to refresh a few minds, Zubeen is the famous 'Ya Ali' playback singer from Gangster who is Assamese by origin and this is a song from his first Pop Album called 'Zindagi'.

I actually happened to hear this song for the first time on radio and then it took me a while to figure from where was the song I heard!

I think this song is just brilliantly sung and composed. It's got fantastic music and lyrics..
It somehow just reminds me of Piya Re by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - I guess it's just because the song's called Jia Re and there is also a Piya Piya.. in it :)

The song's got feel, and a lot of the guitar in it.. makes me happy!
His official site is www.zubeen.com and more about him here

For the benefit of those who haven't heard or seen this song, here's a snippet:

Main Agar Kahoon - Om Shanti Om

Playback - Sonu Nigam & Shreya Ghoshal

Music - Vishal-Shekhar

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

When I listen to this song, I think it's an absolute melody; soft, sweet and musical.
It just reminds me of some of the songs my parents often listen to.. it just sounds like music from the 70s and 80s.. maybe older.
Also, I think it is commendable that Vishal-Shekhar can compose music like this as well in addition to songs like we heard in Musafir (remember Saki Saki?)

Listen to the music the song starts with - it reminds me of a child's toy that you'd hang in their cot and then the next instrument is like 70s followed by the piano.. nicely done!

Personally, am a big fan of Sonu Nigam's songs and I think he's done complete justice to this song too. I just wish he sang a lot more!

Coming to the lyrics of the song, it's all about how he has no words to sing her praise and even what he's saying is nothing to match how beautiful she actually is.

Tumko paaya hai to jaise khoya hun
kehana chahu bhi tho tumse kya kahun
Kisi zaaba mein bhi, woh laafaz hi nahi
Ki jin mein tum ho kya tumhe baata sakoon

Lehrata aanchal hai jaise baadal,
bahoon mein bhari hai jaise chandini
Roop ki chandni
Mein agar kahoon yeh dil kashi
Hai nahin kahin, na hogi kahin
Taaref yeh bhi tho, sach hai kuch bhi nahin

Are the verses I really like from the song.. and talking about words.. Agar Main Kahoon..mujhe tumse mohabbat hai... (no.. that's from Laqshya!) same title just shuffled a bit!

Main Agar Kahoon & Agar Main Kahoon - both nice songs, and a must listen!

Tum Se Hi - Jab We Met

Playback - Mohit Chauhan

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Imran Kamil

Jab We Met, the movie I think is a really nice and light hearted love story.. Kareena Kapoor I think has given her best performance ever.. sincere and enjoyable.

Shahid and Kareena did make a nice pair... sad that they aren't together any more.

Coming to the song.. it comes at a point where they've gone their own ways and yes, he is imagining her around!

The music of the song, especially the flute sounds really nice..

I don't like the Aa.. aa bit in the song.. they could've easily done without it and..

The nice lines in the song are:

Tum se hi din hota hai
Surmaiye shaam aati
Tumse hi tumse hi
Har ghadi saans aati hai
Zindagi kehlati hai
Tumse hi tumse hi
Na hai yeh pana
Na Khona hi hai
Tera Na hona jane
Kyun hona hi hai

Aankhon mein ankhne teri
Bahoon mein baahein teri
Mera na mujhe mein kuch raha hua kya
Baaton mein baatein teri

Raatein saugatein teri
Kyun tera sab yeh ho gayahua kya
Mein kahin bhi jata hoon
Tumse hi mil jata hoon
Tumse hi tumse hi

Shoor mein khamoshi hai
Thodi se Behoshi hai
Tum se hi tum se hi

Aadha sa wada kabhi
Aadhe se jayada kabhi
Jee chahe karlu is trah wafa ka
Chode na chote kabhi
Tode na tute kabhi
Jo dhaga tumse jud gaya wafa ka
Mein Tera sharmaya hoon
Jo mein ban paya hoon
Tumse hi tumse hi
Raste miljate hai
Manzile miljati hai
Tumse hi tumse hi

.... It's all mush.. but It's a nice song!

O Re Piya - Aaja Nachle

Playback - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Music - Salim - Sulaiman

Lyrics - Jaideep Sahni & Piyush Mishra

I think the songs sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan by default, are good!
He sings with so much passion and feeling..you're totally into the mood of the song once you listen to it.

It's got decent music, the harmonium reminds me of a Qawali somehow.. and also another song which I just cannot recollect!

Aaja Nachle is Madhuri Dixit's comeback movie after 5 years.. her last Bollywood film being Devdas.. and I think she looks and acts and dances as well as ever!

If you listen to the song for the first time.. you might just get the feeling that it's a dull, slow and depressing song.. but do listen to it.. pay attention to the lines like..

Udne Laga Kyon Man Baawla Re

Aaya Kahan Se Yeh Hosla Re

O Re Piya Haye

Our minds are so restless and our thoughts jump from one to the other to another in a jiffy.. atlease mine does :) and then we wonder.. how? what just happened!
And now thinking about "Mann Bawra" check out my previous post on the song from Pyar Ke Side Effects here.

Sazish Mein Shaamil Sara Jahan Hai
Har Zarre Zarre Ki Yeh Iltiza Hai

When we are thinking about certain things.. some right, some wrong, some that go our way and some which don't and for the ones which don't we think the entire world's conspiring against us..
this reminds me of a book I once read.. yes you read that right.. I did read a book called "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho in which it says.. you should believe in what you want and once you start believing in it the entire universe conspires to make it happen... if you'd ask me.. I think it's wishful thinking... but then who says we shouldn't be optimistic? Think Positive!

Chalna Aahiste Ishq Naya Hai

Pehla Yeh Vada Humne Kiya Hai

When you make commitments.. try and stick to them, hold onto your thoughts before you take action!

It's a soft and peaceful song.. I'd recommend it!

Mauja Hi Mauja - Jab We Met

Playback - Mika Singh (Daler Mehndi's brother - for those who didn't know)

Music - Pritam Chakraborty

Lyrics - Imran Kamil

Dance is what I want to do when I hear this song!
It's this nice Punjabi song with dhol music playing along which makes it a whole lot of fun.

The beginning tone reminds me of the beginning of the title song of Range De Basanti.. think about it..

I don't understand Punjabi and neither do I understand too much of the song.. but I still like it.
It's just got this nice and happy feel to it.

It's been well sung by Mika too.. his second hit number after "Dil mein baji guitar" from Apna Sapna Money Money.. and yes, he's also been over television in the dance reality show called Jhalak Dikhla Ja on SET.. haven't watched him dance ever.. but I think he is a whole lot of drama.. and yea.. you have Rakhi Sawant on the rival dance show on the rival channel!
Nach Baliye 3 on STAR Plus.. co-incidence or taking the fight all the way :)

Coming to the song.. Shahid and Kareena look good together and dance well in the song..
Shahid Kapoor.. undoubtedly is very cute.. and pretty sporting I think in comparison with his previous TV appearances. He was pretty humble to dance with the Voice of India contestants, do a performance for Shiamak Davar - his dance guru on Jhalak.. and yes, an appearance on Nach Baliye too.. with Kareena for the promotion of Jab We Met.

I actually begun liking this song after I heard and saw Shahid dance on all these shows!

Do listen to it if you still haven't.

Johnny In The House - Johnny Gaddar

Playback - Suraj Gagan & Akriti Kakkar

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Jaideep Sahni

This is the remix version of the title song - Johnny Gaddar and I think the background music is awesome.. There used to be a time I used to really dislike the sound of the electronic guitar.. and liked just the original sound of guitar music.. but times have changed! I do like the electronic guitar too.

This song is actually on my top songs list currently because of the music & lyrics!

Baatein hai
Sab saali baatein hai
Kehte hai phir bhool jaaate hain

Lot of people say a lot of things but rarely action them.. and then just forget about them.. I think I also would feature in that list of some people.. but well I am going to make an attempt to not say things I can't do :)

Aayegi nahi phir yeh zindagi
ho mar mar ke kyun jeena yaar
jam ke khana pee na yaar
Bhar ke pyala pee na yaar
Mangega to mera hai
Cheenega to tera hai ki nahi

This means - Live life King Size :)

Hey johny Gaddar
Sab chalta hai khel mein
Hey Johnny

All's fair in love and war :) but I really don't think so..

Apni karta ja na tu
Baaton mein na ana tu
Apna gana ga na tu

Jadu hai tere mein
Tere mein jadu hai ki nahi

Always focus on doing your thing.. don't take what other's think of you too seriously cause it could do more harm than effect! Listen and consider what you think works for you. But yes, don't be selfish!

And lastly..
Bhala kar to tera to tera bhal ho

Do good, be good!

Didn't mean to make this a 'gyan' post.. but there are learnings we can get out of entertaining bollywood songs right?

I finally watched the film.. and I think it was nice. Something different from the usual bollywood masala films.

Zara Gungunalein Chalo - Laaga Chunari Mein Daag

Playback - Babul Supriyo (I think he's a Kumar Sanu clone) & Mahalaxmi Iyer

Music - Shantanu Moitra

Lyrics - Swanand Kirkire

This is one song which was sung by 3 female singers Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal & Mahalaxmi Iyer (which is the final version) because Aditya Chopra wanted the voice to suit Rani Makherji's voice well.. Don't know about that bit of it.. but I think the song's nice and sweet.

Starts with a few lines in Spanish that I don't understand and then.. Love the guitar music that follows.. and also, the Baila Baila... lyrics of the song remind me of the song from Dhoom2 which is picturised in Rio? It's also got this Carnival and tap dancing feel to it.

It's also got a few lines from the Hum to aise hain bhaiya song(which I think I like as well).. with a little style!

Zara Gunugunale.. is picturised in Zurich (absolutely stunning is what I think).. pretty locales and all of it.. + Abhishek and Rani look good together..

Also, the message of the song is - Smile a little.. enjoy a little and make a strange face someone known.. it's difficult to make someone unknown, known but I guess in a matter of time it's all good.

If you were to hear the song the first time you wouldn't care much.. but hear it a couple more times... and there you are.. you'll keep humming!

Dard-e-Disco - Om Shanti Om

Playback - Sukhwinder Singh

Music - Vishal-Shekhar

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

(I was actually wondering what's wrong with JA this time.. but read somewhere that the 'dumb character' that SRK plays in the film demanded something like that)

Om Shanti Om in the first place, reminds me of the famous Rishi Kapoor Song 'Om Shanti Om' from the movie Karz which is a fantastic song!

Apparently, in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om (OSO) the movie is filmed in parts like the 70s and now- the 21st century where SRK is Om once and Om again.. and I guess that's why SRK and Shreyas Talpade have those weird hair-dos.. but I think Deepika Padukone looks really pretty.

In this song, Dard-e-Disco - I think Sukhwinder has sung it really well, I like the way the song starts - it's got this nice Arabic feel to it!

The video is shot with Shahrukh Khan bear chested + a 6-pack which in my opinion is UGLY!
I know it's a lot of hard work that's gone into his look or whatever it is.. but really not something I liked.

The song's got a nice, foot-tapping beat to it, well sung and should linger for quite some time!
It's also got an English verse in the song (Vishal-Shekhar trademark is it?).. actually I do remember a friend telling me that it was the group 'Strings' which actually started the English lyrics in a Hindi song because it was 'needed' and that now people are using it just like that!
I wonder.. and I think it's nice as long as it sounds good and not just to make the song more 'hip'.

If you watch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV, it's a music based show which is a nice platform for aspiring singers.. Vishal-Shekhar are judges in the current season & Farah Khan, Deepika Padukone & Shreyas Talpade were guest judges in last week's episodes where the contestants were singing songs from OSO.. and Raja who is one of the top3 contestants, sang this song.. and I think he sang it really well! In fact, Farah Khan also went on to tell Vishal-Shekhar that in the next batch of the audio cds and cassettes there should be a Raja Version.. I think it's just a nice way of showing appreciation even if they 'actually' don't ad a Raja version...

And what Dard-e-disco means.. I really don't know.. it's just a nice song!

P.S. On the same day on STAR Voice of India - we had the Saawariya trio of Sanjay Leela Bhansali with Ranbir & Sonam Kapoor ... now that's taking the competition all the way!!

Move Your Body - Johnny Gaddar

Playback - Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy, Hard Kaur

Music - Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy

Lyrics - Jaideep Sahni

To start off.. I just think this is the most awesome song I've heard this year and it's a good and unusual mix of the typical 40s-50s-60s kind of music with the (Doob ja mere pyar mein) bit of it which reminds me of the song 'Mere piye gaye Rangoon' which has a nasal style of singing in it + the harmonium music that's playing in the background reminds me of "local train" singers of Mumbai.. I might sound harsh here.. but that's what it reminds me off!

And then you got the English - Rap lines in the song (Move your body... Groove your body & Rock to the rhythm & rock to the rhym) which give the song this "cool, hip-hop" feel to it..

All in all it's a nice combination of desi, videsi, and the masala - chhamiya kind of music which Bollywood is famous for!

If you delve deeper into the lyrics of the song, they're talking about:
"Paisa phek, tamasha dekh" which actually implies that in today's day and age, you give money to let the show go on, to get things done your way.. bribes and other forms of incentives have become a popular way of getting things done.. sad but true.

And.. if you think about how many songs there are in bollywood that feature "money/cash" as the main concept you will be surprised, there are quite a few!

So here goes :

1. Sabse bada rupaiya (Bluffmaster - Abhishek Bachchan)
2. The whole thing is that sabse bada rupaiya (Mehmood)
3. Cash to the left of me.. (Cash - title song)
4. Apna sapna money money (Title song)
5. Paisa paisa (Apna sapna money money)
6. Jai jai money (Apna Sapna Money Money)
7. Dede mujhe mera bees rupaiyaa (Jamai Raja - Anil Kapoor & Madhuri Dixit)
8. Panch rupaiya bara aana (Kishore Kumar & Madhubala - Chalti ka naam gadi)
9. Paisa yeh paisa (Karz - Rishi Kapoor)
10. Paisa phek tamasha dekh
....and the list can go on!

The film stars Neil Nitin Mukesh... he used to be Neil Mathur in school :)
who looks pretty decent.. I think he will get better with time.. haven't seen the film yet and have heard good reviews about it.

It's from the maker of Ek Hasina Thi starring Urmila Matondkar & Saif Ali Khan which was a good movie. I hope to catch this one soon! Do listen to the song, it's a must!

Labon Ko - Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Playback - KK (has off late sung soo many good songs!)

Music - Pritam (he's on a roll too)

Lyrics - Sameer

Slow, simple, intense and full of emotion is how I'd define the song..
KK in my opinion is an outstanding (not the standing out types) but the keep up the good work types :)

The song's picturised on Shiney Ahuja & Vidya Balan who play a couple in the film.. and
apparently, the films a re-make of a south Indian film called Chandramukhi which was a hit!

Wonder how Bhool Bhulaiyaa would fair at the box-office.. should be time pass is what I think.

tere jasbaaton mein,
mehaki si saanso mein,
ye jo mehek sandili si hai dil ki panaaho mein,
bikhari si aaho mein sone ki khaaish jagi si hai
chehare se chehara chupaao,
sine ki dhadkan sunaao dekh lo khud ko tum (aankhon mein meri - 3) aankhon mein

Are the lines from the song which I think are well sung, KK just takes it to another level.
Well done!

Do listen to this song, it's sweet and romantic.. and the remix - has got a nice catchy start!

Saawariya - Saawariya

Playback - Shail Hada

Music - Monty Sharma

Lyrics - Sameer

Right after Black.. this is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next film lined up for release sometime around Diwali along with Farah Khan & SRK's Om Shanti Om (OSO).. SRK also claims he is scared of Saawariya.. catch SRK actually 'scared'... well I don't think so..

Saawariya is the debut film for Ranbir Kapoor (Son of Rishi & Neetu Kapoor) & Sonam Kapoor (Anil Kapoor's daughter).

From the promos of the film.. it looks like a blend of Devdas, Black and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam... and yea.. a little bit of "RK" thrown in.. like the famous RK Films pose at the start of every film..

Ranbir Kapoor.. does look much better personally than on screen.. well yes, I have seen him in person :)

Coming to the song.. I realllly like the song.. and the guitar music playing throughout is simply divine!

While hearing the song.. there were bits which did remind me of the song "O Priya" from the film Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye and also.. the bit from Hum Dil.. when everyone is seated at the lunch table and Salman Khan just breaks off into a melody?

Also, there is a "yudleyooo.. yudeleyee" like Kishore Kumar.. pretty well done!

And ya.. coming to the lyrics of the song.. it's this typical love ballad.. with all mush... here goes..

Saawariya haa haaaa
Saawariya haa haa haa
Saawariyahooo Saawariya

Doli mein bitha ke
Sitaro se sajake
Zamane se churake Lejayega
Saawariya haa haaaa
Saawariya haa haa haa
Saawariyahooo Saawariya

owwwowoww

Doli mein bitha ke
Sitaro se sajake
Zamane se churake
Lejayega ek roj tera udake jiya
Saawariya haa haaaa
Saawariya haa haa haa
Saawariyahooo Saawariya

[Yudliing]

Palkon ke shamiyane mein
Khwaabon ke har thikane mein
Teri hi parchaiya hai
Tu to har lambha Yaadon mein hai
Teri khamosh pheli nazar ka deewana bana

Saawariya haa haaaa
Saawariya haa haa haa
Saawariyahooo Saawariya
Doli mein bitha ke
Sitaro se sajake
Zamane se churake Lejayega

Saawariya haa haaaa
Saawariya haa haa haa
Saawariyahooo Saawariya

Film also stars Salman Khan & Rani Mukherji.. should be good, let's wait and watch!

Saathiya - Darling

Playback - Adnan Sami, Tulsi Kumar

Music - Himesh Reshammiya, Pritam Chakraborty, Prasana Shekhar

Lyrics - Sameer

Adnan Sami's sung this song with a lot of feel and has modulated his voice extremely well.
If you pay attention to the beginning of the song.. I like the way he's sung the english lines.. just a handful of bollywood singers like Shaan and maybe.. Sonu Nigam can carry off an English song well.. and yes, Adnan Sami's done very well..
Actually he does tend to talk with an accent too.. when he gives interviews.. so no problem there!

dil hai ki maanata nahi hai
bechaini jaanata nahi hai
main karun kya bata zaraa saathiya
saathiyaaa.. saathiya..

Are the lines I like from the song..And how many times does it really happen that your heart takes over your head and then you just don't know what to do!

Can be tricky...

Love the guitar, piano and flute in the song.. and all the other instruments I don't know of :)
Looks like the movie didn't do too well.. but I guess it did slightly better than RGV Ki Aag.. wonder what kind of films Ram Gopal Verma is upto making!

Not a great fan of his.. but yea.. the song's good! Do get it, hear it.

Heyy Babyy - Heyy Babyy

Playback - Neeraj Sridhar, Raman, Pervez Qadir, Loy Mendonsa

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Sameer

Catchy song, with a nice beat .. which actually sounds like foot-tapping.. tap dancing music!
The song's got Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh & Fardeen Khan really living it up.. with a lot of women.. singing.. Heyy Babby Jee lene de iss pal ko.. kal ki sochenge kal ko..

It's like make merry.. don't worry.. we'll see what happens tomorrow!
In a way it's a good attitude to live life kingsize.. but then there are times when you wish you had planned.. you wish you had made preparations for a secure future.. but then.. sometimes things just don't go as planned.. they just happen the way they're meant to.

So it's like.. you do the best you can.. and leave the rest.. atleast you've done what you could right!

But in the film these guys are just making merry and then land up with a baby who they got to take care of.. the movie was nothing great.. it's got a few good moments.. but nothing exceptional is what I think..

Back to the song.. Sajid Khan - the director did manage to get a LOT of heroines to feature in the song.. like:

Malaika Arora
Amrita Arora
Sophie Choudhary
Shamita Shetty
Dia Mirza
Amisha Patel
Koena Mitra
Masumi
Neha Dhupia
Tara Sharma
Riya Sen
Celina Jetly
Hrishita Bhatt
Aarti Chhabria
Kim Sharma
Payal Rohatgi
Minissha Lamba
Amrita Rao

Wow that's a whole lot of women to share screen space with one another! Wonder how many cat fights that would've taken place while shooting!! :)

And the lines I like are..

Ishq Mohbbat Pyaar ki baatein
Bekaar ki baatein
Jhoothe hai saare vaadein
Rasmein na jaaneKasmein na maane
Kar woh jo thaaneHum to begde sehjaade

[Hey Babyy je le de is pal koHey babyy Kal ki sochenge kal ko]2

Kisko pata jana dhal jaayeg kab jawaaniyon ka nasha
Chal dilruba lele dono milke zindaganiyon ka mazaa
ho madhooshi mein kho jane de hota hai jo bhi yaraho jane de
Dooriyan rehena darmiyaaan

Not that I really believe in the lines above.. just think they sound nice in the song!

Nice song.. do hear it.

Junoon - Junoon

Playback - Abhijeet Sawant

Music - Amit Trivedi

Lyrics - Anusha

"Junoon" means.. Craze.. I also think it means "Paagalpan" according to Bollywood :)

If I were to try and remember how many times this word's been used.. I remember this song composed by Himesh Reshammiya.. and was picturised on Zayed Khan.. don't recall the movie though.. there was also a band called Junoon who named their album also Junoon and then there was a film by the same name in 1992 and 2002! Now should I call this Junoon for Junoon :)

Well.. coming to the Junoon by Abhijeet Sawant (Indian Idol 1).. this is his second album after the 1st one being Apka Abhijeet Sawant.. and his popular track being Mohabbatein Lutaoonga.

Junoon.. it starts with a classical line.. and then the guitar + drumbeat throughout, sound.. awesome..

This song would come into the "inspirational songs" category.. and to elaborate.. I would probably list this song with..

> Aashayein - Iqbal

> Yeh Honsla - Dor

> Mehfuz - Euphoria

If you know what I mean..

khoya sab kuch toh kya hua, paane ka ab mujhe hai junoon
aansu agar bhi mile, hasne ka hai junoon

and then...

zindagi intehaan hai toh kya, manzilon ka mujhe hai junoon
suni rahoon mein bhi, hum safar ka junoon, hum safar ka junoon....

Are the nice lines of the song.. do watch/hear it.. it's worth it!

Bhool Bhulaiyaa - Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Playback - Neeraj Sridhar (his voice sounds more familiar than his name!)

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Sameer

Hare Ram Hare Ram Hare Krishna Hare Ram.. I had this up on my messenger for a day and a friend told me.. aren't you like 20-30 years younger to be saying this.. :)
Well.. maybe if I were to really think about it.. maybe attending 'satsangs' and 'bhajan sessions' regularly might be for a generation a little older.. but no harm remembering God.. no harm taking his name.. how many times do we actually sit down in peace and think about God.. that's ofcourse if you believe there is one.. I do! I also do make it a point to keep chanting his name whenever I can..

Coming to the song.. I think Akshay Kumar looks AMAZING.. he is my all time favorite hero.. who made it so far on his own.. I think he acts pretty well and is finally getting his due for what he's worth. Hare Krishna Hare Ram.. is what forms the chorus of the song and sounds really nice.. the song's got a blend of hindi & english lyrics.. I think that's pretty much become a trend across songs in Bollywood now days..

Not just saying it.. there are songs like:

Mindblowing Maahiya, Maahiya (by Suzanne), Cash (title song), Naughty Naughty... Right here right now, Ab to forever and many more!!

The beginning of the song's got this nice sound.. which is like that of glass and bangles if I think so.. and then the beat which continues throughout is catchy.. and foot tapping.

The song's worth singing along.. and if you really do.. the lyrics are:

Teri Aankhen bhool bhulaiya
Baatein hain bhool bhulaiya
Tere sapnon ki galion mein
I Keep Looin for u baby..
Teri Aankhen bhool bhulaiya
Baatein hain bhool bhulaiya.
Tere sapnon ki galion mein.
U Keep Drivin me so crazy….
Dil Mein tu rehti hai…..Betaabi kehti hai………I Keep prain all day .. all day all night long
Hare ram hare ram hare krishna hare ram (4)

Tu meri khamoshi haitu meri madhoshi haitu mera hai afsana
Tu hai awara dhadkan …tu hai is raaton ki tadpan ….Tu hai meri dil Jana
Teri zulfon k neeche mere khwabon ki jannat
teri bahon mein aak Bechani ko milti raahat
my only wish is if i ever ever could make u mine
every one is prain with me now all day all night long
hare ram hare krishna hare ram (4)
Tere wade pe jeena teri kasmon pe marna baki ab kuch na karna
chahe jagaya soyaa deewanepan mein khoya
duniya se ab kya darnatere ehsason ki gehrai mein dooba rehta
tu meri jaan ban jayay har lamha rab se kehta hoon
every one is talking about us like ever i domy love is rocking baby common now common

Hare ram hare ram hare krishna hare ram
Teri Aankhen bhool bhulaiya.
Baatein hain bhool bhulaiya.
Tere sapnon ki galion mein.
I Keep Looin for u baby..
Teri Aankhen bhool bhulaiya.
Baatein hain bhool bhulaiya.
Tere sapnon ki galion mein.
U Keep Drivin me so crazy….
Dil Mein tu rehti hai…..Betaabi kehti hai………I Keep prain all day .. all day all night long
Hare ram hare ram hare krishna hare ram (4)

Dhamaal (Dekho Dekho Dil Ye Bole) - Dhamaal

Playback - Shaan, Adnan Sami

Music - Adnan Sami

Lyrics - Sameer

Ae aa oo .. ae aa oo dhamaal.. are my favorite lines from this song.. nice catchy music and well sung by Adnan Sami who looks oh so cute now.. after having lost a lot of weight.. he looked great even on Indian Idol 3 where he sang one of his popular songs called ' Mujhko bhi to lift karade ' when one of the contestants asked him that what do you do when you're nervous before a stage performance :)

Back to the song.. I like the way it's been picturised.. all the actors - Arshad Warsi, Ashish Choudhary, Sanjay Dutt, Javed Jaffery & Riteish Deshmukh.. seemed like they did a lot of Dhamaal while filming it too..

The movie's a total no brainer.. but worth a watch for 'time pass'.

Tinka Tinka - Karam (2005)

Playback - Alisha Chinai

Music - Vishal - Shekhar

Lyrics - Irshad Kamil, Vishal

Well this song's from a movie starring John Abraham & Priyanka Chopra and no.. I haven't watched this film.. but heard this song on this site called http://www.videoontherocks.com/ (VOTR) which is a site which has a decent collection of Videos which you can watch - like http://www.youtube.com/ but I personally think the videos load much much quicker on VOTR!

Coming to the song, its a nice song and well sung by Alisha..
and in the video on VOTR - it's a snippet from the show Amul STAR Voice of India performed by this girl called - Mirande - she sings pretty well too!

It's all about each one having their own set of dreams, wishes and desires which people need to understand.. bit by bit.. Nice song..nice music by Vishal - Shekhar.. don't know about the film though!
Maula Mere Lele Meri Jaan - Chak De India!

Playback - Krishna, Salim Merchant

Lyrics - Jaideep Sahani

Music - Salim & Sulaiman Merchant

Another Maula Mere after the famous
Maula Mere from Anwar..but I don't think this song's gone down too well with the critics or music reviewers..

Personally, I like the sound of the song and the instruments used in the song very much.. reminds me of the song from Dor called "Yeh Honsla"..
Somehow, I feel there is some similarity in the feel of the song..In the context of the movie, this song plays when Shakrukh Khan is leaving his house because he's been accused of match-fixing and then, when he returns home after he's managed to clear his image of having fixed the match by making the women's hockey team achieve victory at the World Cup.

The lines I like are..
Tere sang kheli holi
tere sang ki diwali
tere angno ki chhaya
tere sang saawan aaya
fer le too chaahe nazre chaahe yeh chura le
laut ke too aaega re shart laga le
teeja tera--jaan

And the popular (chorus) lines are..

Teeja tera rang thaa mai toh
teeja teraa rang thaa mai toh
jiya tere dhang se mai tohtu hi thaa maula tu hi aan
Maula mere le le meri jaan..

Listen to the song for soft peaceful music.

Chak de - Chak De India

Playback - Sukhwinder Singh, Salim Merchant & Marianne Dcruz

Music - Salim & Sulaiman Merchant

Lyrics - Jaideep Sahni

The music with which the song starts.. reminds me of the Indian army and my heart wants to salute them! It's very typical to the army music.. or maybe I think so because of the way it's been portrayed in movies with the army in focus.

Nowhere to run nowhere to hide.. this is the time to do or die..
Are my favorite lines from the song! I think this song is really inspiring and motivating.. just makes you feel that this is the time, it's now or never and you got to have your way, somehow!

Come on India is what Chak de India means..

There was a song called Chak De from the film Hum Tum as well which is a fab song.. do read about it here.

Awesome movie (saw it twice and loved it both the times), Shahrukh Khan was very good.. and I also liked the performance to the girls in the movie. It's nice to see a sport like hockey being the focus of the film, and yea.. it's something that's beyond cricket!

Some of the outstanding characters were:

Komal Chatala (Chitrashi Rawat) - she is a professional hockey player!

Bindia Naik (Shilpa Shukla) - I loved her character in the film, and i think she did a good job too.

Preeti Sabrawal (Sagarika Ghatge) - she was the 'good looking' girl in the movie

Balbir Kaur (Tanya Abrol) - The hatti - khatti hot-headed punjabi girl.

I think it's a nice song.. nice movie.. so sing along..

kuch kariye
kuch kariye
nuss nuss meri khaule…
hoye kuch kariye
kuch kariye

buss buss bada bole…
ab kuch kariye

Naughty Naughty - Cash

Playback - Anushka Manchanda (the VIVA girl)

Music - Vishal - Shekhar

Lyrics - Vishal Dadlani, Panchhi Jalovni

Hey chhori.. zara nachke dikha.. zara thumka laga.. zara nachke dikha
Typically 'ghati' but a lot of fun to hear :)

U n me will we
Meant to be
Main tera tu meri destiny
(again.. reminds me of the boy trying to make "frands" with a girl or generally trying to make a pass!)

And then..
Saiyan saiyan Sehari
Lage hai mohe sexy
Chain mere dil ka chura gayaSaiyan saiyan Sehari
I Love the way u touchin me
Tujhko dil mein basa gaya

Is the nice dance part of the song.. :)

It's hard to believe I'm making comparisons of this song with men making passes at women.. but that's what immediately comes to mind..

It's an extremely well sung song.. very foot - tapping and catchy..
good to dance on too!

And if you wish to watch the video.. here goes..

Rehem Kare - Cash

Playback - Sunidhi Chauhan & Vishal Dadlani

Music - Vishal - Shekhar

Lyrics -

Pay attention to the starting music of the song.. (very nice!)

shaamiyaana meri yeh baahon ka
ashiyaana kuch begunaaho ka
aasaan hai aana is mein
koi na beham karein

are the BEST lines in the entire song.. just love the way it's been sung..

and then ..

have mercy girl.. na have mercy girl na upon me

which means.. rehem kare .. rehem kare rab rehem kare

The entire rap verse in the song is done really well.. n I'd like to call it the Vishal - Shekhar style.. maybe cause I remember it from Ab To Forever (Cheeka cheeka.. yes my cheeka girl ) from Ta Ra Rum Pum..

Not that we haven't heard rap in other songs from Bollywood..like Right Here Right Now from Bluffmaster .. but I'd like to give these guys credit for the nice and different music they make!

Nice song.. do hear it!

Tera Mera Rishta (Remix) - Awarapan

Playback - Mustafa Zahid (he sounds so much like KK!!)

Music -Pritam

Lyrics - Sayeed Quadri

If you hear this song initially.. you might not like it.. it's got a lot of pain and this feeling of insecurity.. but it's got great music!
I also think it's been sung pretty well.. always thought it was KK singing since he's been singing a lot of songs off late.

The nice lines from the song which I like are:

Tera yakeen kyun
Maine kiya nahi
Tujhse kyun raha juda
Mujhpe ye zindagi
Karti rahi sitam
Tune hi di hai panaah
Tera mera rishta...

I guess at the end of the day it all boils down to "trust" and "faith".

Good song.. and yea.. keep the faith! :)

Top 5 Songs To Party On !

Since I've been listening to not one or two foot tapping songs at a time but quite a few, thought I'd dedicate this post to all the Fun and Dance songs which feature on my current playlist. These songs have awesome music.. and lyrics, I think some of them do.. but this post's only from the "music" point of view. :)

Here goes my list:

5. Jhoom Barabar Jhoom - Jhoom Barabar Jhoom
> The version by KK and Sukhwinder Singh is my favorite!

4. To Phir Aao (Remix) - Awarapan
> Atif Aslam Rocks!

3. You're My Love (Remix) - Partner
> I think this song rocks! It's picturised also really well and got this awesome hip-hop feel to it.

2. Soni De Nakhre Sone Lagde - Partner
> I didn't even really pay attention to this song.. it's only after I watched the film and begun hearing all the tracks that I actually liked it.

1. Vaada Karo Nahi Chhodoge Tum Mera Sath - Dj Aqeel - Power Play 2.0
> Well this song might not go down too well with the "World Hold On" by Bob Sinclair lovers, but I really like this remix by Aqeel.. it's a total combo of an old song + World Hold On = Super Song!

And to be honest, this list isn't it, there are a couple more which are topping my charts! So do come back and check them out! :)

Maahiya - Awarapan

Playback - Suzanne D'mello

Music - Pritam (this man's gotten really popular!)

Lyrics - Asif Ali & Sayeed Quadri

I like the song because it's got an awesome beat which plays throughout the song.. it's also pretty different from the usual hindi songs that we here.. it's got a mix of English & Hindi lyrics.
(Ya it's not the first of it's kind.. but nice)

If you pay attention to the lines.. "somewhere out there, there is a someone who's waiting just for me mahiya".. it takes me back to a really old pop song by Anamika - Kahin karta hoga mere intezar.. which means practically the same thing!

Well co-incidence or what?

Also.. some beats of the song remind me of the song - Jingo.. jingo ha ha..

Coming to the title of the song " mahiya".. managed to find quite a few songs that have either "mahi" or "mahiya" in them.. here goes:

1. mahi ve - kal ho naa ho
2. mahi ve - kaante
3. aaja mahiya - fiza
4. mahiya - awarapan
5. mahi mahi - kismat
6. your my mind blowing mahiya - cash

And.. maybe there are more?

Mehfuz - Mehfuz - Euphoria (The Band)

Playback & Lyrics - Palash Sen

I think this song is extremely inspiring and it's all about - SO WHAT!!
So what if things aren't going your way and so what if the people around are upset with you.. for that matter even GOD! VERY SCARY - I know..
It's all about not losing hope and not giving up.. keep going..
there has to be a good time.. and I'd like to belive so.
I always believe that I'll get my turn.. maybe not now.. but I will.
It's always important to believe in yourself and the people you trust and ofcourse.. can trust :) because those are the people who'll help you get out of your tough moments in life and help you stay protected.

The song's very well sung by Palash Sen - I cudn't believe it until I actually saw him in the video.. Good music and the song's got a great message in it as well.. so read on..

Zindagi Hai dhuan to kya Bujh gayi har subah to kya
Rootha mujhse khuda to kya

Ek Din Teri Raahon Mein - Naqaab

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Sameerr (no.. it's not a typo)

Playback - Javed Ali

I simply loveee the guitar music at the beginning of the song!! I know I keep mentioning the guitar in almost all my posts.. but I just love the sound of it.. and hope to learn to play it someday!

The music of the song - all in all is good..
It's got this typical - possessive lover boy singing a song feel to it.. and also the harmonica in between the verses sounds fab along with the tapping sound..

It's more a music song than a lyrics song..

But then.. if you really want to sing along.. here goes..

Ek din ..Ek din teri raahon Baahoon mein panaahon mein Aungaa kho jaunga
Ek din tera ho jaunga
Yeh dil to na keh yeh baateindil to na keh saka
Tu jaane na tuChaahat meri kitni betaab hai
Ho jo barso meri palkon mein thaTu wohi khwaab hai
Har ghadi har ghadi yaadoon mein
vaadon mein iradon mein
Aungaa khojaunga
Ek din tera ho jaunga
Yeh dil to na keh yeh baateinDil to na keh saka
Yeh Jhukti nazarJaane jigar hosh lejati hai
Mein kaise kahon
Ek ajnabi dard dejati hai
Chupke se Chupke se teri neeedon mein
Khwaabon mein khayalon mein Chaaunga Khojunga
Ek din ..Ek din teri raahon
Baahoon mein panaahon meinAungaa khojaunga
Ek din tera ho jaunga
Yeh dil to na keh yeh baatein dil to na keh saka

And if you've seen the promos of the film.. you would see the guys saying 'I do' to the same girl and then the girl says 'I don't'!! This film should hopefully be worth a watch - atleast I think so!
Saiyaan - Jhoomo Re

Playback - Kailash Kher

Music - Kailash - Naresh - Paresh

Well sung and well composed is how I'd define this song.

It's got this awesome instrumental music in the background which is a combination of the harmonium, sitar and guitar.. and maybe more.. but just sounds marvellous - very soothing to the ear.

I personally wasn't a huge Kailash Kher fan.. but have begun to like his songs from the recent past like.. "Teri Deewani" from his previous album, "Saiyaan" from Ta Ra Rum Pum & "Ya Rabba" from Salaam-e-Ishq.. they were all sung with a lot of genuineness..

Back to the song.. the nice lines are:

Heere moti main na chahoon.. main to chahoon sangam tera.. main to teri saiyaan.. tu hai mera.. saiyaan..

Mere dil khushi se jhoome gaye raat din.. pal pal mujhe dubayein jaate jaate

tujhe jeete jeete haroon ye pran pran varoon.. hai aise main nivaroon.. teri aarti main utaroon.. and more.. but it just sounds good..

It's also got this slight sufi - qawalli feel to it - just like Kehna Hi Kya from the film Bombay.. which was also a fab song..

I think it's worth an ear!

And just in case you want to check out Kailash Kher's official site.. it's here!

O Meri Jaan - Life In A... Metro

Playback - KK

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Sandeep Srivastava

This song.. by now must be heard and played way too many times and should have been on the blog earlier.. but nevertheless.. made it :)

Love the guitar & drums in the background - they sound simply great!
Personally, wasn't a big fan of rock music, didn't enjoy the electronic guitar too much.. but it's grown on me - now I really like it.

KK - currently one of the best singers in Bollywood - but not in the limelight, neither an award winner often - but very talented. (Sonu Nigam's made way for all these guys!!)

Also, the other good thing about the song is how it starts slow, soft and sweet and then - it's loud! Just like Alvida from the same music album..

The nice lines are:

Dil Khudgarj Hai, Phisala Hai Yeh Phir Haath Se
Kal Usaka Raha, Abb Hai Tera Iss Raat Se
O Meri Jaan…

(I agree with only - Dil Khudgarz hai - after all, as of today - every1 lives for themselves, there are very few people who care more about the others than themselves. - that's Reality!)

Tu Aa Gaya Yuun Nazar Mein
Jaise Subah Dopahar Mein
Madhoshi Yuun Hi Nahi Dil Pe Chaayi
Niyat Ne Li Angadaayi
Chhuaa Tune Kuchh Iss Tarah
Badli Fiza Badla Sama
O Meri Jaan…

Me thinks - nice song!

JBJ/ Jhoom/ Jhoom Barabar Jhoom - Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

Music - Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

Lyrics - Gulzar

The title "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" is apparently inspired by the old song "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Sharabi" which was from the film 5 Rifles (1974) - music by Aziz Nazan which was a big hit of it's time and I guess has gained popularity once more - courtesy Yash Raj Films :)

There are 3 versions of the title song in the new avatar.. really confusing but enjoyable!

Playback - Shankar Mahadevan (alone)

This is the version which has been picturised on Amitabh Bachchan.. n is sweet! It's credible how he can carry off an outfit like the one he's wearing and to top it - dancing!
It's much slower than the other two.. but nice.

ho kab lage kahaan rab jaane,
jab lage jahaan sab jaane rabba rabba...
har chot maja deti hai, jeene ki saja deti hai rabba rabba rabba...
jhooti mooti baatein sunake, gungunaati aankhein sunake
jalaave bujhaave bujhaave jalaave oy mombattiyaan

Are the nice lines from this song..

Moving on to version 2:

Playback - Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan

This is the Folk song.. it reminds me of the song Shubha Mudgal sang for her private album - the song's called "Dholna" & was picturised on Malaika Arora with hubby Arbaaz Khan.. maybe because of the way in which Sunidhi has sung the song..

It's also got the Jhoom-Jhoom + Dj rap a little in between the song which makes it a little young.. I would think it's got a good blend of culture, music & youth in it.

Finally the 3rd version - (which I like best)

Playback - Shankar Mahadevan, KK, Sukhwinder Singh, Mahalaxmi Iyer

This version of the song starts with nice instrumental music & has an awesome Indian(Punjabi) feel to it.. the style of singing, the lyrics, the dhol and all of it! It's got this upbeat and foot tapping music throughout the song..and the last part of the song which is initiated by Shankar Mahadevan and then accompanied by all of them.. is like ultimate.. full of energy, enthusiasm and the feeling of a live song.

jo baawarein se lagate hai,
woh log bhale hote hain makhana makhana
jo ishq mein ji nahi sakate pehle se marein hote hain makhana makhana
ba adab ho ba mulaajha, aaya tujhpar dil aaya
billoni billoni billoni hath maar de taaliyaan
billoni billo billoni hath maar de taaliyaan
maki ki roti gudh rakh ke,
misri se mithe lab chakh ketandoor jalaake
jhoom jhoom....jhoom baraabar
jhoom baraabar jhoom baraabar jhoom

Is what gives the punjabi feel to it - though, as usual - I don't know what these lines mean!

All in all - great songs.. can't wait to watch the film :)

Beete Lamhe - The Train

Playback - KK & Kshitij Tarey

Music - Mithoon & (Lounge mix by Goldeyy)

Lyrics - Sayeed Quadri

Time keeps passing, things change, times change and yes, people also change to some extent. That's reality according to me... what stays is memories and moments - good and bad.

The song talks about the same thing.. beete lamhe.. moments from the past.

This song has fantastic music and is very well sung by KK. I really am wondering how many songs this man has sung in the last 6 months or so... way too many! I'm enjoying them though :)

Dard mein bhi ye lab muskura jaate hain,
Beete lamhe hamein jab bhi yaad aatein hain

are the best lines from the song.. but why leave the rest of them out... so here goes:

dard mein bhi yeh lab muskura jaate hai
beete lamhein hamein jab bhi yaad aate hai)
beete lamhein..........chand lamhaaat ke waaste hi sahi
muskuraakar mili thi mujhe jindagi
teri aaghosh mein din the mere kate
teri baahon mein thi meri raate kati
aaj bhi jab woh pal mujhko yaad aate hai
dil se saare gamon ko bhula jaate hai
dard mein bhi yeh lab muskura jaate hai
beete lamhein hamein jab bhi yaad aate hai
beete lamhein.....
mere kaandhe pe sir ko jhukaana tera
mere sine mein khud ko chhupaana tera
aake meri panaahon mein shaamo sehar
kaanch ki tarah woh toot jaana tera
aaj bhi jab woh manjar nazar aate hai
dil ki viraaniyo ko mita jaate hai
dard mein bhi yeh lab muskura jaate hai
beete lamhein hamein jab bhi yaad aate hai
dard mein.... beete lamhein..........

Bol Na Halke Halke - Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

Playback - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Mahalaxmi Iyer

Music - Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

Lyrics - Gulzar (writes lines I don't understand.. like the Barso Re song from Guru!!)

I actually like the entire album.. buy my 1st pick from all of them is Bol na halke halke.. It's a fantastic song!

Great music, lyrics, very well sung and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is getting onto my favorites list :)
Mahalaxmi Iyer also has a beautiful voice but I've hardly heard songs sung by her..

Shankar-Ehsan-Loy have this typical style of music.. just like AR Rahman does.. and this song in particular reminds me of the songs from Mission Kashmir..

Socho ke jheelon ka shehar & Chupke se sun..the music just sounds familiar if you pay attention to it..

The violon and the sound which is like that of tapping a matki (clay pot) is so good!

The nice lines are:

aa nind ka sauda karein, ik khwaab de, ik khwaab le
ik khwaab toh aankhon mein hai, ik chaand ke takiye talein
kitane dino se yeh aasamaan bhi soya nahi hai, isako sula de
bol na halke halke, bol na halke halke
honth se halke halke, bol na halke

All in all.. a great song and a must hear!

Alvida - Life In A... Metro

Playback - KK (currently - my favorite singer!)

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Amitabh Varma, Sandeep Srivastava and Syed Quadri

This is one song that's got an awesome feel to it (musically) and starts really slow and peaceful.. building it up and then -- LOUD!!

Pritam, off late has been doing great work and making great music -- would love to give him the credit for it but.. a lot has been written about the work being "inspired" :)

Anyways, I personally think the song's great, movie's OK.. but wonder WHY the 3 of them who form the Metro band are in all the songs!! I mean, if they fit into the context of the film or are just in the title song, or at the end it's alright... but why every song??

It's all about how sometimes people make decisions and then you wonder why they did so.. maybe without thinking..

Coming to the good lines..

chupake se kahin,
dheeme paanv sejaane kis taraf,
kis ghadiaage badh gaye hamse raahon mein
par tum toh abhi the yahin
kuchh bhi na suna,
kab ka tha gilakaise keh diya alvida

and then..

sunle bekhabar,
yuun aankhein pher kar aaj tu chali ja
dhundegi nazar humko hi magar har jagah
aisi raaton mein leke karvate, yaad hamein karna
aur phir haar kar kehna kyun magar,
keh diya alvida alvidakoi puchhe toh zara,
kya socha aur kaha alvidaalvida, alvida,
abb kehna aur kyajab tune keh diya, alvida...

Ab To Forever - Ta Ra Rum Pum

Playback - KK, Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani (Cheeka cheeka..!)

Music - Vishal - Shekhar

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

The set up of the song and the way it features in the film is typical hindi movie style! Boy trying to patao the girl, girl acting all pricey.. and the rest is usual.. happily ever after!

Whatever said and done.. I like it! :)

Great music, very well sung KK and Saif-Rani look good together.

The beat at the beginning of the song with the dhol is super.. and the cheeka, cheeka.. bit is my favorite!

Tum Hi Tum Ho Jo Raaho Mein
Tum Hi Tum Ho Nigaaho Mein
Kis Din Toh Mere Dil Ko Khona Hi Tha
Tumhe Dekha, Tumhe Chaaha, Tumhe Dhunda, Tumhe Paaya
Tumhe Paake Huwa Hai Jo Woh Hona Hi Tha
Chalo Abb Jo Bhi Ho, Tum Haa Yaa Naa Kaho
Mere Dil Mein Tum Hi Tum Ho
Abb Toh Forever
Bring It On....Jaana Abb Toh Forever,
Bring It On....Ab Forever Sanam
Bring It On....Jaana Abb Toh Forever,
Bring It On....Ab Forever Sanam

Are the good lines from the song.. Definitely worth your ears!

It's Rocking - Kya Love Story Hai

Playback - Alisha Chinai

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Shabbir Ahmed

It's Rocking.. again like my post on 'Boom' has no meaning but is used quite frequently to express "feel good".
This song is like Kareena's comeback to Bollywood after a long break.. I think her last film was Omkara in which she did'nt really have a prominent role. She also termed this song as a commitment she had made to the director (Lovely Singh) of this film.. who is a friend from the Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai days.. and also I remember from a TV interview in which she said we shouldn't call these songs "Item numbers" cause music is such an important part of Bollywood movies... What drama! :)
Coming to the song.. Kareena does look nice in the song and it's a good song too.. but a total lift from the old song Ude Jab Jab Zulfein..
Like movie remakes & remixes wasn't enough..welcome to Song refurbishing :)
On the whole it's a nice fun song despite the lifts and drama! It's Rocking!
In Dino - Life In A... Metro

Playback - Soham Chakraborty (not the one who directed Kaal)

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Sayeed Quadri

In dino dil mera.. mujhse keh raha..tu khaab saja.. tu jeele zara
hai tujhe bhi ijazat.. karle tu bhi mohabbat..

and..

iss jamaane se chhupakar
puri karloon main hasrat
hai tujhe bhi izaazat, karle tu bhi muhabbat

What nice lines..when your feeling all out of sorts and hopeless.
It's got a lot of meaning.. and also has a lot of truth in it.

It's more like.. you are your own master.. and you have the permission to do what you want like you want.. and then at the end of it if you have some time to spare.. make time for love.

It's still so weird that you're the one who makes decisions most of the time in your daily life and still you're so dependant on what others do, think, feel.. guess that's Life in a Metro :)

The music in the song is super, especially the electronic guitar and yes, well sung Soham!

Shakalaka Boom Boom (Remix) - Shakalaka Boom Boom

Playback - Himesh Reshammiya, Earl, & Akruti Kakkar

Music - Himesh Reshammiya

Lyrics - Sameer

This song has awesome background music and that's the only reason the song's here.
Shakalaka Boom Boom - wonder what it even means.. If I remember correctly, this is also the name of a TV show on STAR Plus.. some kiddy program.. but now that I'm thinking hard.. there are quite a few songs which have 'Boom' as part of it like...

Boom Boom - Vengaboys

Boom Boom Dil Bole - Shweta Shetty (the johny joker singer)

Boom - The movie (Kaizad Gustad's) & Katrina Kaif's first film

and some more.. can't think of.

The song's got a nice catchy beat.. but that's about it. The movie wasn't good from the reviews and I decided to let the film pass (didn't watch it!).

Nachle Ve - Ta Ra Rum Pum

Playback - Sonu Nigam & Soumya Raoh

Music - Vishal-Shekhar

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Another song to the collection which talks about 'Don't Worry, Be Happy'.
It's ultimately all about what you want at the end of the day & what you want to make out of things.. The song's all about the big IF.

If you want.. It can!

I'm also biased to Sonu Nigam and that's why the song's really here :)
I also think once I watch the film and the way the song's filmed, I'll like it even more.
The music in the song reminds me of the beginning of the song Rang De Basanti.. listen to it carefully you'll figure.. It's a nice upbeat track..

My review of the song would be - Sweet.. Nachle Ve!
Dilruba - Namastey London

Playback - Zubeen Garg & Alisha Chinai

Music - Himesh Reshammiya

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Love him hate him.. you can't escape his music.. Himesh Reshammiya does really come up with these tracks which have real good foot-tapping music.. I think he should start making way for the other playback singers and stick to the composition bit of it..

If I were to describe the feel of this song.. I think it's a song in which they are really living it up! It's all about having fun and making merry. In the film this song's been picturised in a night club and Katrina Kaif is seen having a blast! I also think she did a great job in the film and suited it to perfection.

It's got awesome music and this very country-music like feel to it.. the beats, violon and guitar all make an awesome mix and the nice lines are:

tu hi hain meri yadoon ki baaahoon mein
tu hi hai mere sapano ki raaho mein
tu hi to hai jisne dil kodi hai yeh kahaniyaan
tu hi to hai jisne dil ko di hai yeh nishaaniyan
tere mera jo pyaar hai pyaar yeh zordaar hai
dilruba dilnashin

I think this song's a must hear!

Woh Pehli Baar - Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi (1999)

Playback - Shaan

Music - Vishal - Shekhar (2 posts in a row!) & Shiraz

Lyrics - Mandira Bedi, Raj Kaushal

This is my pick from the past.. not been too regular with these posts.. not been listening to Flashback too much :)

Actually.. this song ain't that old.. but is one of my ALL time favorite songs.

Extremely well sung.. and all mushy!

This film stars Dino Morea, Sanjay Suri and Rinke Khanna in a typical college set-up + love triangle.. the film wasn't too great but the music was decent.

Pyar mein kabhi kabhi was like a first time for a lot of the artists like.. the leads, vishal-shekhar and also if you happen to see the film you'll notice one of the side characters is Akashdeep Saigal who is very popular now.. for his character in Kyunki Saas as Ansh.. time makes a huge difference and changes destinies.. and there is more.. the film was directed by Raj Kaushal - Mandira Bedi's husband who got her claim to fame with Shanti then DDLJ and then Extra Innings in the Cricket World Cup 2003.

Way to go!

Nice, sweet & simple is what I'd call this song.. do listen to it.
Ta Ra Ra Ra Rum Tararumpum - Ta Ra Rum Pum

(took me a while to get the number of Ras in place :) )

Playback - Shreya Ghoshal

Music - Vishal - Shekhar

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Ta Ra Rum Pum I'm assuming has no meaning really but I would relate it to the music noted Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.. or something like that.

This song talks about how you can cruise through a tough phase in life by being Optimistic and thinking positively. It's all about how you look at things and decide to deal with them.
There maybe instances when you can decide to deal and cope with things or just give up!

As long there is hope, faith and confidence - a lot of things can be made to happen :)

The music in this song in particular is soft and sweet. It starts with the piano playing which sounds really soothing.

Shreya Ghoshal who got her Bollywood breakthrough with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (the TV Talent based show) has performed quite well.

The nice lines from the song are:

Ho Agar koi gum to tum na ghabrana
Bas ye rahe yakin ki khushiyon ko to hai aana..

and..

Aayenge Phir Se Din Khushiyon Ke
Badlega Yeh Mausam.. Ta Ra Ra Ra Rum

Film releases 27th April'06.

Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si - Life In A...Metro

Playback - Adnan Sami

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Sayeed Quadri

Awesome music + awesome lyrics = awesome song!

Adnan Sami after Dil Kya Kare (Salaam-e-Ishq) is at his best once again with this song which also has a remix version and an Unplugged version by Suhail Kaul.

I personally like this version by Adnan Sami the best and the harmonica (mouth organ) reminds me of the song Chal Chalein from Woh Lamhe which is also a fab song!

The nice lines from the song are:

keh de mujhse dil mein kya hai
aisa bhi kya guroor
tujhko bhi toh ho raha hai thoda asar jaroor
yeh khaamoshi jine na de, koi toh baat ho
wo wo o o o o o........shaayad yahi hai pyaar

In these lines he's talking about how sometimes your ego doesn't allow you to express your feelings but at the same time there is a certain level of discomfort in keeping shut.. koi to baat ho!

Coming to the film.. it's about leading a life in a busy city and how no one has time for each other.. each one to themselves, doing their own thing.. but that's life as of today!

The film releases sometime in May.. I think I will catch this film.. maybe you should too..

Laree Choote - Ek Chalis Ki Last Local

Playback - Xulfi (pronounced as Z dono why it's spelt with an X)

Music - Sandesh Shandilya

Lyrics - Mehboob, Ankur Tewari

Love the violon music with which this song starts and also throughout the song! Sounds really nice.

Though, this song has strong lyrics and a lot of meaning. More in terms of how life can change in a few moments.. it can change your destiny and that's why he says at some point in the song.. Jhoot hai to mujhko na jaga..

In the song specifically, it's about how so many people come to Mumbai city to make a living with big dreams.. and how life suddenly is on the fast track because of the turn that certain events take in life.

But life goes on...

The entire song's actually very well written.. so here goes:

woh kehte hai na
jo hota hai achche ke liye hota hai
galat kehte hai
kismat ka khel hai saara
phirta tha main aawaara
yeh kya se kya ho gaya
chaar din ki zindagaani
har pal ek nayi kahaani
kya tha, main kya bana gaya
kya huva jo laaree chhooti
jivan ki gaadi looti
kwaab hai toh mujhko na jaga
zindagi ek pal mein saali
yuun palat gayi hamaari
zhoot hai toh mujhko na bata
mumbai, suna tha yahaan aadami puri zindagi apani kismat
slow track se fast track laane mein nikaal deta hai
par dhaayi ghante mein meri kismat
aise slow track se fast track par aa jaayegi
yeh maine kabhi socha nahi tha
saja maja ban jaayegi, yeh bhi kabhi socha nahi tha
last local kya chhuti, saala kismat patari par aa gayi
karlo jo bhi karna hai
hota hai jo hona hai
gujra toh pal yeh phir na aayega
kya bura hai kya bhala hai
waqt hi shaayad khuda hai
ho jaane do phir dekha jaayega
kya huva jo laaree chhooti
jivan ki gaadi looti
kwaab hai toh mujhko na jaga
zindagi ek pal mein saali
yuun palat gayi hamaari
zhoot hai toh mujhko na bata
woh kehte hai na
jo hota hai achche ke liye hota hai
sahi kehte hai
jivan ki gaadi looti

Hum Kis Galli Ja Rahe Hain - Doorie

Playback - Atif Aslam

Music - Sachin Gupta, Mithoon, Atif Aslam

Lyrics - Anam K.

Atif is undoubtedly one of the really good singers who in my opinion, appeals a lot to the youth..
His songs are very well performed and have a lot of passion in them.

Like the other songs from his 2nd Album Doorie (Doorie, Kuch Is Tarah).. this song's also really nice. It's about how you don't know which path your going.. is it the right one or the wrong one..
And yea.. speaking of paths, it reminds me of a dialogue from DDLJ where SRK tells Kajol's mom (Farida Jalal) that there is an easy path in life and a difficult path in life but it's the difficult path which ultimately gives you a lot of hapiness.. I'd like to believe that too..

Back to the music of Hum kis gali.. it reminds me of Bryan Adam's Summer of 69 -- maybe all of the guitar and all rock-feel to it.

yeh he yeh he yeh he yeh ohooooo.......
.ek ajnabi sa chehra rehta hai meri nazar mein
ek dard akay tehra din raat dard-e-jigar mein
ek ajnabi sa chehra rehta hai meri nazar mein
ek dard akay tehra din raat dard-e-jigar mein
jaagi hai yeh kasie taleb se yeh arzoo hai ajab se
lekin kisi ko batana nahi
lekin kisi ko batana nahi

Are the nice lines from the song.. do listen to it sometime!

Jane Kya Jane Mann Bawra - Pyar Ke Side Effects

Music - Pritam

Playback - Zubin

Lyrics - Mayur Puri

I'm going to make this post short and sweet.. I think this song has been brilliantly sung and has fantastic music.. I'd say - spend 5 minutes listening to this song than reading my blog :)

If I were to get into the feel of this song, it's about how you feel the blues when your love life ain't on track.. mayb a fight, misunderstanding or break-up.. and then you really don't know what your mind wants..and it keeps wandering.. Feeling blue.. Naa.. I'm thankfully not yet feeling the blues!

Hips Don't Lie - Oral Fixation Vol. 2

Playback - Shakira & Wyclef Jean

My blog usually doesn't feature English songs too often.. but this is one track I do really enjoy listening to and also since Shakira was the talk of the town off late since she did her 1st Live concert in India... this post was needed.

"Hips Don't Lie" is a Grammy Award-nominated Latin pop song performed by Colombian singer Shakira and Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean. The song samples Jean's 2004 song "Dance Like This" and takes much of the instrumentation from Jerry Rivera's "Amores Como El Nuestro

I think she has belly - danced really well in the song.. and has sung it really well too.
It's an awesome song to party on!

The beats, the saxaphone and all of it sounds fab!

If you've watched this Sushmita Sen film called Zindagii Rocks, the song Meri Dhoop Hai Tu has a frame or two which is "ispired" :) so to say from Hip's Don't Lie where Sushmita is also wearin white.. but well.. people draw inspiration from various people and through various means.. guess this is just another one.

If you haven't already heard this song yet, you definitely have to!

Rafta Rafta - Namastey London

Playback - RDB (Rhythm Dhol Bass) - UK-based Bhnagra Band

Music - Himesh Reshammiya

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Rafta means speed and here in context to the song I'm guessing love happened quickly!
When I saw the film, I didn't notice the song and don't even remember at what point in the film it was! But now that I'm listening to it.. I like it and simply love the way the song's been sung.

It's also got this arabic feel to it which could be because of the style in which it's sung and the instrumental music throughout.

Akshay Kumar looked good in the film and Katrina was pretty good too. Overall an OK film I thought.. it hasn't got great reviews though.

This was post no.50 - I'm impressed :)

Kitni Der Tak - Delhii Heights

Playback - Sonu Nigam

Music & Lyrics - Rabbi Shergill

Kitni Der Tak is almost like Sonu Nigam's come back song.. haven't heard too many from him off late.. which is not very nice. Apparently he has decided to do very few select songs.. nevertheless.. it's nice to hear him again!

The guitar is nice as usual and I also like:

Kitni der tak tum baahar rukogi
kitni der tak mein rukuun yahaan

odo baad main door jaana
rowaanga mein baithe door kise kone vich
mud ke ni geet yeh main gaana
odo baad main tur jaana
odo baad tu tur jaana

Kitni der tak.. aaj sham ya savere tak..

Rabbi Shergill's claim to fame was the song Bulla Ki Jaana and then Tere Bin (do read the Tere Bin post from the past).

Tere Bin features even this film and is a really nice song too..

The film releases this Friday - 30th March,'07.
Gudgudee - Just Married

Playback - Sunidhi Chauhan (I think she's one of the best singers in the country today!)

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Gulzar

Gudgudee means tickle but in context to this song, it really is like butterflies in your stomach.. guess you feel like that when your anxious and really wonder how things will be in the future.

The song is about how there is some uncertainty in a relationship because it's new and your in it not really out of choice but more because of the sake of your elders. It so happens that we do things in our daily lives because of what others think and feel and would want us to do.. Though, times are changing and people are living for themselves, for the moment!

Arranged marriages happen even today but it's still a better scene than it was some years ago where the bride and groom wouldn't even know whom they are going to spend their lives with (absolutely SCARY!)

Love marriages are a more common phenomena but as we move on.. it's the age of Live-in relations. It's more a matter of convenience I would think, it's more like let's check it out and see.. if we can't live with each other, move on.

I think our parents adjusted and compromised a lot more than what the now-generation would.

Times change.. people change.. thoughts change :)

Back to the song.. I think it's sweet and well sung. The film was ok.. nothing exceptional and a lot of things in the film were silly.. but well..

Gungunati Hui - Betaabi (1997)

Music - Vishal Bharadwaj

Playback - Kumar Sanu, Suresh Wadkar

Lyrics - Sameer

Just to refresh your mind.. this song is from a movie starring Chandrachur Singh (of Maachis fame), Arshad Warsi, Anjala Zaveri & Mayuri Kango.

3 of the 4 leads of this film are quite out of the picture currently except Arshad Warsi who seems to be rocking Bollywood post Munnabhai MBBS, Salaam Namaste and Big Boss on the small screen.

1 reason why I really like this song is the music which is fantastic! It's a peaceful song which talks about having achieved something, achieved love if I can say so..

The part where you hear the violon and saxaphone in tandem (jugalbandi) is superb and ofcourse, the piano with which the song begins..

I would say.. a nice song from the not so past.. just 10 years! :)

Main Jahaan Rahoon - Namastey London

Playback - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Music - Himesh Reshammiya

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Simple, nice and soulful is how I would define this song.. It's got great music and is well sung too.
If you really pay attention to the lyrics - it's really sad but I think it's got to do a lot with reality.
In life, to say: The world moves with you.. but reality is you came alone, you'll go alone and while we live, we have moments and memories (yaadein) which keep us going which reminds me of a dialogue from the film Kal Ho Naa Ho which goes:

Hasso, jeeyo, khush raho
Kya pata... Kal ho naa ho..

Coming back to the song..the nice lines are:

kisi se kahoon
ke nahi kahoon yeh jo dil ki baat hai
kehne ko saath apane ek duniya chalti hai
per chhupke is dil mein tanhaayi palti hai
bas yaad saath hai teri yaad saaath hai
main jahaan rahoon
main kahin bhi hoon
teri yaad saaath hai...

There's a remix to the same song which is alright and a 'Mehfil Mix' as well which has some poetry in it. Personally like the original the best.

The film releases on the 23rd of March,'07 and here's the official site.

Mann Ki Lagan - Paap (2003)

Playback - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Music - Anu Malik

Mann ki lagan is my pick for the week from the not so old, old songs :)

This film was directed by Pooja Bhatt starring John Abraham and Udita Goswami - never watched it though.. (2 posts in a row for songs from films I haven't watched - now that's weird!)

This song's sung well, got great music and lyrics too..It's got this classical feel to it which could be because of the harmonium and tabla combo which I personally think is more ghazal-like.
I think once in a way Anu Malik does come up with really good music - wish he would be less of a copy-cat!

All said and done, this is one song I really like.. especially these lines:

Aa Ja O Meri Jaan
Mere Dil Ka Jahaan
Maange Teri Khabar
Dhoondhe Tera Nishaan
Laagi Tum Se Man Ki Lagan
Lagan Laagi Tum Se Man Ki Lagan...
Gali-Gali Ghoome Dil Tujhe Dhoondhe...

and then..

Tera Tujhako Saunp De Kya Laagat Hai Mor
Mera Mujhamen Kuchh Naaheen Jo Hovat So Tor
Tere Bin Mera Man
Jaise Ban Men Hiran
Jaise Pagali Pawan
Laagi Tum Se Man Ki Lagan

I think it's a nice, peaceful song for your loved one.

Afreen (Remix) - RED - The Dark Side of Love

Playback - Himesh Reshammiya

Music - Himesh Reshammiya

Lyrics - Sameer

Afreen means pure & beautiful and was also the name of the hit song by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan that featured super-model Lisa Ray.

This song from RED has an awesome background score and Himesh Reshammiya's sung it pretty well too.. not that I'm a huge fan of his or anything of that sort but his music is decent and he does seem to have atleast a couple of hit songs in his kitty pretty often.. I think when he did the music for Aashiq Banaya Apne he became quite a rage with the masses and not too long back he did a concert in the UK (becoming the 1st Indian to perform at Wembley Arena-London) where he did a launch for his romantic-thriller called Aap Ka Suroor which just added to all the fame.

Coming to the movie RED - it is a Vikram Bhatt film whose promos don't look that interesting..but since there's no other hindi film besides Deepa Mehta's Water which released this week as well, was actually wondering if I should go watch it.. but just think I'm gonna spare myself this time :)

The song's decent though.. there's another track called Amin which also sounds okay.
In a line.. Himesh's back!

Tu Hi Meri Shab - Gangster-A Love Story

Playback - KK

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Sayeed Quadri

I know this is an old song and I've decided that I'm going to make it a point to pick an old song and write about it every week (hopefully) - this is all thanks to the Radio and also a specific program on Radio One - 94.3 FM called Flashback where they play really old songs and most of them are really nice - that's if you're fond of them.

If this isn't reason enough.. also happened to hear this song too many times, then watched it on the Stardust Awards performed by Kangana Ranaut..

About Tu hi meri shab - I think it's fabulously sung and also the music is great!
The O o oo .. is very nice - brings back memories and the lyrics too are very good.. I think everyone reading this should go back and sing along....

tu hi meri shab hai subha hai tu hi din hai mera
tu hi mera rab hai jahaan hai tu hi meri duniya
tu waqt mere liye main hoon tera lamha
kaise rahega bhala hoke tu mujhse judaa
o o o o ho ho
o o o o o o
tu hi meri shab hai subha hai tu hi din hai mera
tu hi mera rab hai jahaan hai tu hi meri duniya
tu waqt mere liye main hoon tera lamha
kaise rahega bhala hoke tu mujhse judaa
o o o o ho ho
o o o o o o
aankhon se padhke tujhe dil pe maine likha
tu ban gaya hai mere jeene ki ek wajah
ho aankhon se padhke tujhe dil pe maine likha
tu ban gaya hai mere jeene ki ek wajah
teri hasi teri adaa auron se hai bilkul judaa
o o o o ho ho
o o o o o o
aankhen teri shabnami chehra tera aaina
tu hai udaasi bhari koi haseen dastaan
ho aankhen teri shabnami chehra tera aaina
tu hai udaasi bhari koi haseen dastaan
dil mein hai kya kuchh toh bata
kyon hai bhala khud se khafa
o o o o ho ho
o o o o o o
tu hi meri shab hai subha hai tu hi din hai mera
tu hi mera rab hai jahaan hai tu hi meri duniya
tu waqt mere liye main hoon tera lamha
kaise rahega bhala hoke tu mujhse judaa
o o o o ho ho
o o o o o o...

Pyar Ki Yeh Kahani - Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd

Playback - Sunidhi Chauhan, Gayatri Iyer

Music - Vishal-Shekhar

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Simply Goan is what I would call this song - it's picturised on Minissha Lamba & Abhay Deol who danced extremely well in this song and in the film, they are on their honeymoon in Goa - though, that's not the only reason.. if you concentrate on the background music in the song, it's got the saxaphone along with the guitar playing which just sounds very Goan.

Not sure about the dance form - Tango / Salsa but it looks nice!

Good film to watch - it's got entertainment value - do watch out for KK Menon, Boman Irani & Raima Sen for sure.

Rozana - Nishabd

Playback - Amitabh Bachchan

Music - Vishal Bharadwaj

Lyrics - Munna Dhiman

Some love stories are just not meant to be understood - is the tag line of this film - I really can't get it how an 18 year old can fall in love with a 60 year old man and viceversa! But like it is - It's not meant to be understood :)

This sound track - Rozana is a fabulously sung song by Amitabh Bachchan..

Love the background score that's there throughout..

The lines :

Kuch gau toh yaad aate ho
Gungunau toh yaad aate ho
Kuch pehnu toh yaad aate ho
Kahi jau toh yaad aate ho
Kuch khone pe yaad aate ho
Kuch Paau toh yaad aate ho
Rozana chale yaado pe teri
Zindagi ka sababTujh se hai roshan
Tujh se hai zinda yeh dil ka shehar
Yeh dil ka Shehar
Rozana ...... are fantastic but they do remind me of the Bryan Adams song - Please Forgive Me..

I think there's some resemblance in the lyrics..

Back to Rozana - It's definitely one nice song which I think will be a favorite for a while!

Kuch Is Tarah - Doorie

Playback - Atif Aslam

Music - Sachin Gupta, Mithoon & Atif Aslam

This is the second post from Atif's second album, first one being Doorie..

Full marks to the music in this song - guitar + flute = super combo!
(The flute actually reminds me of some Bryan Adams song.... I think.. Just can't recollect - will come back and update this when I do!)

To top it - sung by Atif who just makes the song so soulful.. simple but nice.

Kuch is tarah teri palkein.. Meri palkon se mila de
Aansoon tere saare.. Meri palkon pe saja de

Tu har ghadi har waqt mere Saath.. raha hai
Haan hai yeh jism kabhi duur kabhi paas raha hai
Jo bhi gum hai yeh tere..Unhe tu mera bata de ... Kuch is tarah..

Nice lines too.. Should listen to the song sometime!

Sajanaji Vaari Vaari - Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd.

Playback - Sunidhi Chauhan

Music - Vishal-Shekhar

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Fun and funk is what defines this song.. it's got this nice beat and extremely well sung - full marks to Sunidhi Chauhan for this song!

The way she modulates her voice is just too good.. in this track - I think she's going the Himesh Reshammiya way - haha!

It's got this Rajasthani feel to it - the style of singing..

In this song - my assumption is the wife is singing for her husband that you are my world and that I am crazy about you.. but I seriously think the Pati Parmeshwar days are gone!

On the whole - a really fun song.. DO listen to it if u still haven't.

This film opens on Friday - 23rd Feb, 2007.

Valentine's Special - 14th Feb, 2007

Just thought I should dedicate some part of my blog to it & it's 1 English song & 1 Hindi..
It can't really be complete without Bollywood music, can it?

Love Is All Around Me - Wet Wet Wet

Film - Four Weddings And A Funeral

Written by - Reg Presley

I'm not really too much into English music and usually keep track of bollywood music and new releases.. but I've heard this song and really like it..

The lyrics by itself are really nice and thus, I'll leave the space for it today.. here goes:

I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
The love that's all around me
And so the feeling grows
It's written on the wind
It's everywhere I go
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show
You know I love you, I always will
My mind's made up by the way that I feel
There's no beginning, there'll be no end
'Cause on my love you can depend
I see your face before me
As I lay on my bed
I cannot get to thinking
Of all the things you said
You gave your promise to me and I gave mine to you
I need someone beside me in everything I do
You know I love you, I always will
My mind's made up by the way that I feel
There's no beginning, there'll be no end
'Cause on my love you can depend
I got to keep it moving
It's written in the wind
Oh everywhere I go
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it,
Come on and let it,
Come on and let it,
Come on and let it show

Also pay attention to the drums and guitar - very nice indeed!

Coming to Desi Music.. my pick for this section is..

Kya Yahi Pyar Hai - Rocky

Playback - Kishore Kumar & Lata Mangeshkar

Music - R.D. Burman

Lyrics - Anand Bakshi

This song's from Sanjay Dutt's first film and I recently saw a music video from the same film and seriously think he looks much much better now.. though I've always liked him.. I think he's a great actor!

Coming to the song.. It's picturised on Sanjay Dutt and Tina Munim (Ambani) - both looked so young then.. rather they were! This film released in 1981..

This has been one of my all time favorite songs.. was waiting for a chance to write about it :)

The nice lines from the song are:

Pehle Main Samjha Kuch Aur Vajeh Inn Baaton Ki
Lekin Ab Jaana Kahaan Neend Gayi Meri Raaton Ki
Jaagti Rehti Hoon Main Bhi Chaand Nikalta NahinHo..
Dil Tere Bin Kahin Lagta Nahin Waqt Guzarta Nahin
Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai...
Kaise Bhuloongi Tu Yaad Hamesha Aayega
Tere Jaane Se Jeena Mushkil Ho Jaayega
Ab Kuch Bhi Ho Dil Pe Koyi Zor To Chalta Nahin
Ho.. Dil Tere Bin Kahin Lagta Nahin Waqt Guzarta Nahin
Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai....

My comments : simple and sweet!

Tenu Leke - Salaam-e-Ishq

Playback - Sonu Nigam & Mahalaxmi Iyer

Music - Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy

Lyrics - Sameer

Actually this song should have featured a long time ago.. but nevertheless.. it's here now!
I think this song has been fantastically sung by Sonu Nigam & it has this awesome beat to it.. it's a very lively song and typical for a baraat - maybe I also feel like that because of the trumpet that's playing throughout the song which is usually one major musical instrument used in a baraat (Indian wedding procession)

In this song it starts with a proposal then moves to gaining confidence and then actually getting approval :)

Super quick I must say!

For the benefit of those who haven't watched the entire video - Salman's wearing an Orange blazer!! and Priyanka Chopra's in her night gown! I seriously think they could've worn better attire.

On the whole - a nice upbeat song and I like it even more because it's sung in Punjabi though, don't follow all of it!

P.S. The color of the HL - dedicated to Salman's clothes :)

Barso Re - Guru

Playback - Shreya Ghoshal

Music - A.R. Rahman

Barso re megha megha.. baarish, meetha is what I can pick from the lyrics of this song.. but most of it goes above my head.. If I were to forget about the lyrics, I think the music of this song is outstanding! SO AR Rahman indeed.

Aishwarya danced really well in the song and it's also been picturised very well. Another good rain song I would say,I like Lagi Aaj Sawan (from Chandni) too.

It's a nice feel good song.. and don't think anyone's missed this one because it's been well publicized too - thanks to Hero cycles!
Ya Rabba - Salaam-e-Ishq

Playback - Kailash Kher

Music - Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

When I first heard the songs of this album, I think I heard all the songs except this one.. I thought it was boring and sad initially.. but when I watched the film, I liked it a bit.. and now that I'm listening to it again - I like it even more!

I love the instrumental music playing in the background throughout.. the guitar, the flute - ALL of it actually - there are moments in the song where it reminds me of a bhajan..

The song's pretty well sung and is all about how there is so much pain when the love's lost.. will this journey of pain ever end is the question.. Love is to be blamed.. after all Life ain't a bed of roses.. Life's a roller-coaster!

But do listen to the song sometime, it's peaceful.
