Khwab Dekhe - Race

Playback - Monali & Neeraj Sridhar

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Sameer

Good blend of beats, hip-hop and the old hindi movie touch with the slight nasal singing style is what according to me makes the song a winner. This is the song which is filmed on Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif who danced brilliantly!
When I watched the film, I didn't think the song was any great.. but then heard it again and it just grows on you..

Khwab de ke jhoote moote,
Batiya banaye kaise
Sajna anari baiman

Hey mister you say you want me as your lover
But tell me now
Are you a player
Say what ah
Chika chika
Are the lines I really like from the song..

This is another song which has a mix of English & Hindi lyrics which is now pretty much a trend with Bollywood songs and now.. if you want to sing and listen to the song together, do it here.

P.S. That's a whole lot of "Pritam" composed posts in a row. Too much!

Race Saanson Ki - Race

Playback - Sunidhi Chauhan & Neeraj Sridhar

Music - Pritam

Lyrics -Sameer

Class, style, eye candy and a whole lot of twists is what Race is about. Though, the film does have mixed reviews.. good, bad, ugly.
Saif Ali Khan is one actor who has changed drastically over years and is one actor who can give SRK and Akshay Kumar a run for their money. He looks good in the film, danced well and has done a good job. Akshaye Khanna too is a great artist.
Amongst the women - I thought Bipasha Basu looked good.

Race Saanson Ki is a song I really like because of the music - totally kick ass!
I remember stating this earlier - that I used to find the sound of the electronic guitar - noise.
Today, I do enjoy listening to it. The other thing that keeps the song going is the chorus:

Race Saanson ki
Race chahat ki
Race Dhadkan ki
My heart is racing on
and then..

Allah duhai hai
Betabi chaayi hai
Muskil Judai hai
Haan tere pyaar mein

Race is on my mind - the other version of the same song is as good, it's just that it has a few more lyrics in English.

My recommendation - nice song, nice music with a difference.

Judaai - Jannat

Playback - Kamran Ahmed

Music - Originally by Kamran Ahmed and now Pritam

Lyrics - Kamran Ahmed

The Kilogram mix (done by DJ K &G) of this song is simply addictive! I've been hearing this song almost on repeat for quite a few days and still not bored! It's got a nice beat to it, English music kind of feel and completely foot-tapping.

The original version though is in a league of it's own. Starts with the guitar which I love! It is a sad song if you listen to the lyrics - all about momentarily love and all that but for me this song is on my favorites list because of the music. Simply outstanding!
Kamran Ahmed has also done complete justice to the song - originally from Pakistan (Adnan Sami, Atif Aslam, Shafqat Amanat Ali of Fuzon and now Kamran Ahmed - amazing talent is what I think).

Char dino ka pyar o rabba
Lambi judai lambi judai
Tere bin dil mera laagey kahin na,
Tere bin jaan meri jaaye kahin na
Kitne zamane baad o rabba
Yaad tu aaya, yaad tu aaya..

My recommendation - It's totally worth it! (Emraan Hashmi + Bhatt movie + Pritam = Good music) and if your looking for lyrics, you'll get them here.

Zara Sa & Zara Sa (Power Ballad) - Jannat

Playback - KK

Music - Pritam & DJ K&G

Lyrics - Sayeed Quadri

This song is a "music song" for sure.. more than the lyrics and yes, it does remind me a little bit of "Alvida" from the movie 'Life in a Metro'. Could be because of the same team of artists (KK, Pritam & Sayeed Quadri).

More than the original which is sweeter (more romantic) and has more instruments playing, I like the "Power Ballad" which is like 2 notches higher, intense and has moments which are light, slow and then loud!

If you pay attention to the lyrics, it's about winning the trust of a person which can take ages but a moment to lose it. It's about winning someones heart, trust and a little respect from someone and then finding reasons why things went wrong..

Zara si dil mein de jaga tu..
zara sa apna le bana
zara sa khwabon mein saja tu
zara sa yaadon mein basa..

Main chahoon tujhko meri jaan bepanaah
Fida hun tujhpe meri jaan bepanaah

Woo oo oho.. (Is THE BEST part of the song!!)

Kyun itna mujhse hai khafa tu
Ki maine aisi kya khata
Kyun itna mujhse hai juda tu
Kya tere dil mein hai bata
Main chahoon tujhko meri jaan bepanaah
Fida hun tujhpe meri jaan bepanaah
woo..oo..

Ab meri manzil ke aur mere darmiyaan
Bus zara sa bacha hai faasla
Aise mein daaman chhudake tu na ja
Bin tere har khushi hai bewajah
Main chahoon tujhko meri jaan bepanaah
Fida hun tujhpe meri jaan bepanaah
Woo.. oo

Zara si dil mein de jaga tu..
zara sa apna le bana
zara sa khwabon mein saja tu
zara sa yaadon mein basa..

You must listen to this song.. it's sad.. but nice!
I think I will watch this movie for the music :)

Jashn - e- Bahaara - Jodhaa Akbar

Playback - Javed Ali

Music - A.R. Rahman

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Speaking of Jashn - e - Bahaara (Jashan - e - Baharaan) it actually is a festival celebrated in Pakistan (primarily Lahore) and is also referred to as Basant which marks the coming of Spring.
The arrival of Spring was an important event for all farmers and was welcomed with a celebration, hence the origins of Jashn (celebration) Baharan (spring).
More info here.

Interesting peace of information that.. but I honestly didn't see any association with the festival in the movie except for the fact that we are talking about pretty flowers and surroundings.

The lines I like from the song are:

(Kehne ko Jashan-e-bahara hai
Ishq yeh dekhke hairaan hai)

Because that's the chorus of the song :)

Kaise kahen kya hai sitam
Sochte hai abb yeh hum
Koi kaise kahen woh hai ya nahi humare
Karte to hai saath safar
Fasle hain phir bhi magar
Jaise milte nahi kisi dariya ke do kinare
Pass hain phir bhi paas nahi
Humko yeh gum raas nahi
Seeshe ki ek diware hai jaise darmiyan

From the above lines.. it's implied that we are close and yet far.. just like to shores of the river which never meet.. like flowers which are blossoming but don't blossom..
This also reminds me of another song called "Suno Na" from the movie "Jhankaar Beats" where there are similar lines like this.. Door hokar bhi door tum nahin ho, Paas ho lekin, paas kyun nahi ho.. tanha tanha samaa, mehki mehki hawaa.. kehraa hai jahaan, suno naa

Are we getting repititive and is this same same but different? :)
Also, if you pay attention to the music and beats of Jashn - e - Bahaara you'll find some resemblance to the song "Aisa Lagta Hai" from the film "Refugee" which is an Anu Malik composition...

It's a nice peaceful and melodious song.. the Instrumental (Flute) version of the song is simply divine.. you should get hold of both and listen to them for sure!

Khwaja Mere Khwaja - Jodhaa Akbar

Music - A.R.Rahman

Lyrics - Kashif

Playback - A.R.Rahman

Jodhaa Akbar is one film that has gone through a whole lot of controversies right from the releasr of the film in certain states, to the actual history and facts about Jodhabai and who was actually Akbar's wife.

I watched the film and think it's a film you can sit through once. It is pretty long and is three and a half hours long! Ashutosh Gowariker does make good films (Lagaan, Swades) but seriously needs to cut down on the length! Back to Jodhaa Akbar, Hrithik Roshan exceeded my expectations and carried off the role really well.. I really didn't think he could play a brave warrior so well! Aishwarya Rai - was alright.. looked nice though.

Coming to the song - I like Khwaja Mere Khwaja simply for the music and the way it's been sung.
Composed and sung by A.R.Rahman, I think he has done full justice to it but I can't help but be reminded of "Piya Haji Ali" from Fiza, "Kehna Hi Kya" from Bombay and also "Aye Hairathe" from Guru.

I just feel they all have a similar blend of music, lyrics and the way they've been executed.. I guess what's the common link between these songs is A.R. Rahman himself. That's from the music point of view..
From the lyrics point of view.. I do not understand Urdu but happened to come across this person's blog where the lyrics of the song are explained in great detail.

And here is the explanation of the song in English:
Khawaja Ji - exalted Khawaja
Khawaja Ji x 2
Ya Ghareeb Nawaz - O benefactor of the Poor (also the most popular epitaph of Hzrt Mo'een Ud Deen Chisti)
Ya Ghareeb Nawaz x 2
Ya Mo'een Ud Deen x 2
Ya Khawaja Ji x 4
Khawaja Mere Khawaja - Oh my khwaja
Dil Mein Sama Ja - reside in my heart
Shahon Ka Shah Tu - you are the king of kings
Ali ka Dulara - dearest of Ali
Khwaja Mere Khwaja
Dil Mein Sama Ja
Shahon Ka Shah Tu
Ali ka Dulara
Khwaja Mere Khwaja, Dil Mein Sama Ja x 2
Beqason Ki Taqdeer- the fate of the unfortunate
Tune Hai Sawaaree - has been restored by you
Beqason Ki Taqdeer, Tune Hai Sawaaree
Khwaja Mere Khwaja
Tere Darbar Mein Khwaja- in your court O Khawaja
Noor To Hai Dekhaa - shines the eternal light
Tere Darbar Mein Khwaja - in your court O Khawaja
Sar Jhukatein Hain Auliya - even the nearest to God bow down
Tu Hain Himal Wali Khwaja - you are the carrier of those nearest to God
Rutaba Hai Pyaraa - your rank is most craved
Chaahane Se Tujhe Ko Khwaja Ji - desiring you is the path
Mustafa Ko Paya - to attaining perfect humanity (Prophet Muhammad)
Khwaja Mere Khwaja
Dil Mein Sama Ja
Shahon Ka Shah Tu
Ali ka Dulara
Mere Pir Ka Sadaqa x 2 - my master's charity
Hai Mere Pir Ka Sadaqa- it is my master's charity
Tera Daaman Hai Thama - i clutch the hem of your robe
Khwaja Ji Talee Har Bala Humaree- our miseries have disappeared
Chhayaa Hai Kumaar Tera - your beneficence wraps all
Jitna Bhi Rashk Karen Be Shak To Kam Hai Mere Khawja - no matter how much jealously your blessings on me create in others it does not matter
Tere Qadamon Ko Mere Rehnuma Nahin Chhodna Gavara – i cannot fathom abandoning your presence
Khwaja Mere Khwaja
Dil Mein Sama Ja
Shahon Ka Shah Tu
Ali ka Dulara
Khwaja Mere Khwaja
Dil Mein Sama Ja
Shahon Ka Shah Tu
Ali ka Dulara
Khwaja Mere Khwaja
Dil Mein Sama Ja
Khwaja Mere Khwaja Dil Mein Sama Ja
Beqason Ki Taqdeer, Tune Hai Sawaaree x 2
Khwaja Mere Khawaja
Dil Mein Sama Ja
Shahon Ka Shah Tu
Ali ka Dulara Khwaja Ji …
It's a nice song, should listen to it.

Jee Le - U Me Aur Hum

Playback - Adnan Sami, Shreya Ghoshal

Music - Vishal Bharadwaj

Lyrics - Munna Dhiman (Hindi) & Mr. Fernandes (Spanish)

Love at first sight, Destiny, Soulmates.. does it all exist for real? I do wonder because I see it happening only in movies.. Bollywood movies!
Even from the promos of U, Me Aur Hum it looks like a boy meets girl (waitress?) and it's love at first sight for Ajay Devgan.. I guess that's just the beginning and U, Me Aur Hum is more about making your love last longer and making relationships work.
It's about life after two people meet and fall in love and how from U and Me it becomes Hum (Us).. it's all about how you need to compromise and adjust to make things work for you.

Who said life was a bed of roses ? :)
I guess... you can make it one by giving in a little.. living for others who make you happy.

Coming to the song.. it's about living life.. living your love life and life for your love and if you want to die.. die for the sake of your love.

Jinko jinko bhi
Milna hai likha
Ishq milwayega
Jinko bhi milna hai likha
Ishq milayega
Door door se dhoond ke paas le aayega
Kahin bhi jaake chhupo
Ishq wahin aayega
Kitna bhi na na karo utha ke le aayega
Maano ya na maano
Ye saari hi duniya
Isi ke dum pe chala
The more you run away from it, the closer it comes, the more you say no to it.. the more it'll take you by surprise.. I guess it's all about love.. Live with love, die with love..

And by now.. we've had too much love.. but never mind!
Love and let love happen :)
Listen to Jee Le - nice song, catchy and foot tapping music.. love the guitar!
