Tennu Le - Jai Veeru

Playback - Omer Inayat

Music - Bappa Lahiri

Lyrics - Sameer

To start with, we've got one more Pakistani singer who's made their big Bollywood break.. welcome Omer Inayat. I think he's got real good talent as a singer and can modulate his voice very well and adapt well to both, English & Hindi.. and not to forget Punjabi in Tennu Le!

He does remind you just a little bit of Atif Aslam who is also another famous Pakistani singer - of Woh Lamhe & Doorie fame.

Omer Inayat is a young singer and Lawyer by profession.. find more info about him here.

The music of this song is composed by Bappi Lahiri's son Bappa Lahiri who made his debut as solo composer for Jai Veeru (starring Fardeen Khan, Kunal Khemu, Dia Mirza amongst others) which is about 2 friends on opposite sides of the game of life :)

I wonder how the film will be.. but Jai Veeru reminds me only of Sholay and Dharmender & Amitabh Bachchan.. nobody can replace the work the 2 stalwarts of Bollywood did in that film.

Back to Tennu Le.. It's got a nice hip-hop feel and can make you groove to the music..
I also like the lines..

You Got something,
Something about you Girl
My Heart Saw Some thing,
Whenever you r around,
My world goes upside Down..
(I guess that's what you feel when you're in love.. and don't know what to do?)

Tenu LeKe Jaana, Apne Naal
Nahi Jeena, Hun Yaara..Inhe Saal..
Adhi Raat, Neend na aave..
Dil nu chain TadpaAave
Adhi Raat, Neend na Aaave..
Dil nu chain Tadpaave..

It's a nice song to sing along to.. find the full song here.

Khudaya Khair & You Get Me Rocking and Reeling - Billu

Playback - Soham Chakrabarthy, Akriti Kakkar, Monali Thakur
Reprise version - Abhijeet

You Get Me Rocking & Reeling (Playback) - Neeraj Sridhar & Dominique

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Gulzar

A much awaited film, SRK's big venture and big release post Rab Ne Banadi Jodi which didn't do much for him at the box-office.. that's Billu (shortened name from the original Billu Barber because of all the controversy and upset Barbers)..

Khudaya Khair is a very sweet, melodious song which is like the "Dream sequence" of Bollywood movies where Lara Dutta dreams of Shahrukh Khan visiting her home, she living a life of a happy housewife and the likes!

It's a pleasant song which you would want to listen to..
There are 3-4 more versions of the song.. of which one features Priyanka Chopra in an "item number" which is called You Got Me Rocking and Reeling.. it's got it's own charm though..
Khudaya Khair is sung by Monali Thakur of Indian Idol 2 fame.. (the zara zara touch me voice of the movie Race).. it's nice to see so many new singers getting an opportunity in Bollywood and some good that's coming out of the numerous reality shows on TV!!

I think - it's worth a listen!

Genda Phool - Delhi 6

Playback - Rekha Bhardwaj & Backing Vocals : Sujata Majumdar, Shradha Pandit, V.N. Mahathi

Music - A.R. Rahman

Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi

Genda phool is actually a flower without which Hindu rituals are kind of incomplete..It's also called the French Marigold (Tagetes patula) and belongs to the daisy family of flowers.

In context to Delhi 6, Genda phool seems like a pre-wedding song where the girl has the jitters of dealing with her mother-in-law, brother-in-law and all the others who could be what we call 'evil in-laws' as shown in older hindi films and also television serials..

The concept of the song reminds me of the song from Yash Chopra's Chandni called 'Main sasural nahi jaoongi' where the to be bride's cousin is mimicking members of the groom's family at one of the wedding functions :)

Genda phool has some unusually interesting nakhras in the song like the oye hoye oye, Rekha Bhardwaj's nasal vocals.. the nice beats (like the sound of ghunghroos), some that have a hip-hop feel to it and the sounds like a whistle and foot tapping beat!

Great mix of various components and I think brilliantly executed.. A.R. Rahman after all!

If you like unusual music, you'll like Genda phool for sure.. and if you're not, you'll listen to this song after watching it in the movie :)

Yeh Zindagi Bhi - Luck By Chance

Playback - Loy Mendonsa & Shekhar Ravjiani

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Life is beautiful.. its full of experiences.. each moment, each day brings you something new or something you've already been through..

You live each day dreaming a little dream of achieving more, achieving all the things you've always wanted.. and somewhere in between this haze of not knowing whether or not you'll actually achieve what you want.. there's something called LIFE which is full of surprises.

This reminds me of a quote which says:
Yesterday is History,
Tomorrow is a Mystery
Today is a Gift and that's why it's called the Present..

So appreciate the small things in life, the quicker you accept what's happening, the happier you can be :)

Ye Zindagi Bhi is the song which features during the end credits of the movie where it implies.. you don't know where life takes you.. but you want to reach for the stars and actually get them all!

I like the lines :

Yeh zindagi bhi
kya kya humko dikhlati hai
sapnon ki dhundli raah mein
yeh zindagi bhi
hamein kaha leke aa jaati hai
ek anjaani si chaah mein
jaane humko kya paana hai
socho kya hai apni manzil
samjhane se kab maana hai
dekho karta zidd hai yeh dil
choone hai… taare isse
chahiye… saare isse..

My reco: It's a song that will leave you thinking.. it's soft, thoughtful and got nice music.

Rehna Tu - Delhi 6

Playback - A.R. Rahman, Benny Dayal & Tanvi

Music - A.R. Rahman

Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi

How many times do we like people the way they are?
I guess.. not too often. There will always be that tiny little thing that you might want to change in a person which according to you would be for the better.

Rehna tu.. in my opinion, is a beautiful song which appreciates the person for what they are..

The music of this song is simple but outstanding! Kudos to A.R. Rahman who is totally in action.. winner of a lot of awards for Slumdog Millionaire which is the biggest rage of recent times.

Rehna Tu, Hai Jaisa Tu, Thoda Sa Dard Tu, Thoda Sukun
Rehna Tu, Hai Jaisa Tu..
Dheema Dheema Jhonka, Ya Phir Junoon
Thoda Sa Resham, Tu Humdam Thoda Sa Khurdura
Kabhi Daud Jaye, Ya Lad Jaye, Ya Khushboo Se Bhara

A little good, a little bad
A little sweet, a little sour
I like you just the way you are!

Which reminds me of another fantastic song by Timbaland (I Like You Just The Way You Are)..

Tujhe Badalna Na Chahoon, Rati Bhar Bhi Sanam
Bina Sajawat Milawat, Na Jyaada Na Hi Kaam
Tuhje Chaahon Jaisa Hai Tu

I don't want to change you at all.. not even as much as a pinch of sand..
No frills, no fancy stuff..
Not much, not little..
I like you just the way you are!

Mujhe Teree Barish Mein Beegna Hai Ghuljana Hai
Tujhe Chaahon Jaisa Hai Tu
Mujhe Tere Lapat Mein Jalna Rakh Ho Jana Hai

Tu Zakham De Agar, Marham Bhi Aakar Tu Lagaaye
Zakham Mein Bhi Mujhko Pyaar Aaye

Sometimes, when you like someone, even the pain is like joy.. I wonder...

Dariya O Dariya, Doobne De Mujhe Dariya
Doobne De Mujhe Dariya
Rehna Tu, Hai Jaisa Tu, Thoda Sa Dard Tu, Thoda Sukun
Rehna Tu, Hai Jaisa Tu..
Dheema Dheema Jhonka, Ya Phir Junoon

If you pay attention to the flute music which ends the song - it will take you back to a music piece from the film Swades .. I guess that's A.R.Rahman signature style for you :)
Simple song, sweet lyrics, I like it just the way it is.. Rehna Tu is a sure winner..and I can't wait to watch the film.. looks differently nice.. hopefully, this one will make it big for AB Junior..
My reco : Must listen here.
