Kar Chalna Shuru Tu - Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu

Playback - Vishal Dadlani & Shilpa Rao

Music - Amit Trivedi

Lyrics - Amitabh Bhattacharya

Wow.. am blogging after more than a year! That's insanely long.

I guess this song is really so good that it got me back to updating my blog :)

It's one of those inspirational songs that wants you to keep going however low you maybe.

Love the jazz feel to it in between lines..

Jo hua hai woh hota hai
Jo hona hai woh hona hai

reminds me of Sanjay Dutt's lines in the movie Agneepath from the Bhagwat Gita where he says jo hota hai, wo achha hota hai.. and another one from the same film by the masterji : karm kiye ja, phal ki chinta mat kar.

In short > it's all good!

Jo tere bas mein baatein hai
Unhe khamakha kyun khona hai
Ho jitni bhi hai jitni bhi hai, umeedein leke
Jaaye kahan tak jaaye kahan tak, raastein dekhe
Kar chalna shuru tu

Don't worry, be happy and keep walking! Do what you can and don't worry about the rest.

Mudhke naa dekh tu

look ahead and move on, don't brood over the past

Jaise hain sahin hain

however it is, it is. It's meant to be.

Ek main aur ekk tu
Ho kar chalna shuru tu
Mudhke naa dekh tu
Jaise hain sahin hain
Ek main aur ekk tu
Ek main aur ekk tu

Nazariya dono ka
Miley na miley
Kadar dono ko hai dono ki

So often, people do not agree on a topic or think alike.. but that doesn't mean they don't care.. hard to accept but true :)

Safar tay yeh kare, saath mein bhale
Alag hai manzilein dono ki

they are moving forward together but have a different destination..

Tukda tukda dhoop ho
Chaahe chutki bharke chaaon bhi

even if there is a slight ray of hope..

Baraabari se baatein ho zaroorat jo jis tarah ki

their comments and thoughts are equally important

Ho jitni bhi hai jitni bhi hai, koshishein leke
Jaaye kahan tak jaaye kahan tak, raastein dekhe
Kar chalna shuru tu, shuru tu
Mudhke naa dekh tu, naa dekh mudke naa dekh tu
Jaise hain sahin hain, sahin hain sahin hain
Ek main aur ekk tu, ek main aur ekk tu

However trying the times maybe, take it in your stride and move on..

Kar chalna shuru tu
Mudhke naa dekh tu
Jaise hain sahin hain
Ek main aur ekk tu
Ek main aur ekk tu

Jo socha hai kab hota hai
Yehi hamesha ka rona hai
Soche bin mil jaaye jo
Usse khamakha kyun khona hai
Hmm jitni mile jitni mile, raahatein leke
Jaaye kahan tak jaaye kahan tak, raastein dekhe

A lot of times, we think something but not all goes as per plan. Don't cry about it, accept and move on :)

Just like in the movie, the hero loves the heroine but they want different things in life at a given point in time.. so keep moving!

Movie wise - it's a light hearted, time pass movie.. just under 2 hours and enough for a good time at the cinema! Kareena Kapoor & Imran Khan do justice to their characters. Good watch & Good listen!

Munni Badnaam - Dabangg

Playback - Mamta Sharma & Aishwarya

Music - Sajid - Wajid

Lyrics - Jalees Sherwani

Munni Badnaam is an awesome song.. full on masala/item song totally bollywood style!

Features Malaika Arora Khan who carries of the song very well.. I think it's her next big thing post Chhaiya Chhaiya from Dil Se.

Salman Khan is simply awesome in the film as Robin Hood Pandey.. good to see him back in form :)

Crazy lyrics.. and a typical bachelor's night out set up.. Munni completely fits the "dhinchak" kind of genre.

This track is going to play in dance parties for a long time to come.. tune into it here.

Bin Tere - I Hate Luv Storys

Playback - Sunidhi Chauhan & Shafqat Amanat Ali

Music - Vishal - Shekhar

Lyrics - Anvita Dutt Guptan, Kumaar, Vishal Dadlani

Blogging after ages.. and it feels good to be back and that too with another 'Bin Tere'!

Seems like it's the favorite song title for composers in Bollywood..

All said and done about the movie, people hated the film, what was Karan Johar thinking when he decided to produce the film, etc.. etc..

I still haven't watched it.. but will sometime soon :)

Shafqat Amanat Ali - the lead vocalist of the popular band 'Fuzon' has sung the song beautifully and gives it so much feel. There's something unusual about the singers from Pakistan.. be it Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and many more.. it's nice to see singers making their way to Bollywood and making it big!

Love the lyrics..
Lost and lonely coz you’re the only one
That knows me and I can’t be without you
Lost and lonely coz you’re the only one
That knows me and I can’t be without you

Hai kya yeh jo tere mere darmiyaan hai
Andekhi ansuni koi dastaan hai
Hai kya yeh jo tere mere darmiyaan hai
Andekhi ansuni koi dastaan hai
Lagne lagi, ab zindagi khaali
Hai meri
Lagne lagi har saans bhi khaali (lost and lonely)
Bin tere, bin tere, bin tere (lost and lonely)
Koi khalish hai hawayon mein bin tere (lost and lonely)
Bin tere, bin tere, bin tere (lost and lonely)
Koi khalish hai hawayon mein bin tere (lost and lonely)

Ajnabi se huye kyun pal saare
Yeh nazar se nazar yeh milaate hi nahin
Ik gani dehaayi cha gayi hai
Manzilein raaston mein hi gum hone lagi
Ho gayi ansuni har dua ab meri
Reh gayi ankahi bin tere (lost and lonely)
Bin tere, bin tere, bin tere (lost and lonely)
Koi khalish hai hawayon mein bin tere (lost and lonely)
Bin tere, bin tere, bin tere (lost and lonely)
Koi khalish hai hawayon mein bin tere (lost and lonely)

Raah mein roshni ni hai kyun haath choda
Iss taraf shaam ne kyun hai apna muh moda
Yun ke har subah ik bereham si baat ban gayi
Hai kya yeh jo tere mere darmiyaan hai
Andekhi ansuni koi dastaan hai
Lagne lagi, ab zindagi khaali khaali
Lagne lagi har saans bhi khaali (lost and lonely)
Bin tere, bin tere, bin tere (lost and lonely)
Koi khalish hai hawayon mein bin tere (lost and lonely)
Bin tere, bin tere, bin tere (lost and lonely)
Koi khalish hai hawayon mein bin tere (lost and lonely)
Bin tere, bin tere, bin tere (lost and lonely)
Koi khalish hai hawayon mein bin tere .. lost and lonely ..
lost and lonely…lost and lonely

It's all about the pain and emptiness one feels when your loved one is away.. I'm sure - it's a feeling you'd wanna avoid.

Enjoy the song.. listen to it here.

Sajdaa - My Name Is Khan

Playback - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shankar Mahadevan & Richa Sharma

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics -Niranjan Iyengar

My Name is Khan - the movie that brought together one of the most magical onscreen pairs of Shahrukh Khan & Kajol after a span of 10 years post Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (and now there's an animated version - Koochie Koochie Hota Hai in the pipeline!).

Drama, controversies, politics, democracy and freedom of speech - it all preceded the release of the film!

Shifting focus to the song, Sajdaa is one of my favorite tracks from this album and is filmed during the wedding scene of Rizwan Khan (SRK) and Mandira (Kajol - looks fab!).

It's got this whole Sufi feel to it and an in depth and soulful voice to it presented by Richa Sharma whose claim to fame was the song from Taal called Ni main samajh gayi..

Love the instrumental in between verses.. and just the whole feel of the song!

It's all about surrendering yourself in honor of the one you love..

Love the lines..

teri kaali akhiyone se jind meri jaage
dhadkan se tez daudoon sapnon se aage
ab jaan lut jaye yeh jahaan chhoot jaye
sang pyaar rahe main rahoon na rahoon

sajdaa tera sajdaa
din rain karoon naahi chain karoon
sajdaa tera sajdaa

And ofcourse.. the video's nice too.. watch it here:

Uff Teri Ada - Karthik Calling Karthik

Playback - Shankar Mahadevan & Alyssa Mendonsa

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Praise finally has a new style.. That's what Uff teri ada is from Karthik Calling Karthik!

Uff teri ada, I like the way you move

Oh, your actions, I like the way you move

Uff tera badan, I like to see you groove

Oh, your body, I like to see you groove

Uff teri nazar, it says I want to dance with you!

Oh, your looks, it says I want to dance with you

Nice mix of hindi + english lyrics to express interest :)

Besides the praises which forms part of the chorus, there's a lot of energy and dance.
It's all about letting lose, getting drunk, being free and dancing!
Dance till you let your wishes out, dance till you drop and dance till you want to :)

The track's a good fusion of Indian beats of the santoor and some techno beats which makes you groove to the music. It's a song that one would definitely want to dance to!

It's different that Farhan Akhtar doesn't want to dance - atleast from what comes across in the rushes playing on TV with this song :)

Deepika Padukone looks cute with the new hairdo.. Farhan Akhtar is all serious but still quite charming!

This song's been looping in my player for a while and I think it's going to play in dance clubs too! Looking forward to the film.. in the mean time, watch and listen here :

Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji - Ishqiya

Playback - Abhishek Naiwal

Music - Vishal Bharadwaj

Lyrics - Gulzar

Soft, sweet, romantic & melodious is what sums up Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji.
Somehow, Vishal Bharadwaj has this knack of making some outstanding and simple music which really catches onto the ear..

The more I listen to it, the more I like it :)

It's all about the human body aging, getting wrinkles, going grey and the likes.. but still, it's more like 18 till I die & my heart is still like that of a child! :)

About the music, like the harmonica (mouth organ) the most, the beats and the bagpipe and the arm-piano.. all in all it's a smooth composition :) but at the end of it.. just get the feeling that this track reminds me of another oldie track.. Ye Raatein Ye Mausam.. somehow, same same but different is what I think..

Looking forward to Ishqiya and the fantastic performances by Vidya Balan, Arshad Warsi & Naseeruddin Shah.

Listen to dil to bachcha hai ji here.

Jao Naa - What's Your Rashee?

Playback - Sohail Sen & Tarannum Malik

Music - Sohail Sen

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Jao naa is a song about how one feels good when you have your significant other around you and you don't want them to leave.. it's about a moment which will not come back.. the ambiance, the set up and the likes..

It's a feel good song with a lot of guitar beats and it's also one of the better songs from the film and filmed across the Bandra - Worli sealink in Mumbai at night.. long drives are usually fun :)

Listen to the song here

Raat Ke Dhaai Baje - Kaminey

Playback - Rekha Bharadwaj, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kunal Ganjawala & Suresh Wadkar

Music - Vishal Bharadwaj

Lyrics - Gulzar

Raat ke dhaai baje is a total nautanki song.. fun to dance on and just have some fun..
It's got Priyanka Chopra playing a maharashtrian bride attempting to be shy and a coy Shahid Kapoor watching.. and then dancing along..

It's an adapt of another beautiful track from the film called 'Pehli Baar Mohabbat'. However, this is a more fun version..

Watch it here:

Iktara - Wake Up Sid

Playback - Amitabh Bhattacharya & Kavita Seth

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Awesome song, awesome music & lyrics (especially the piano & violin in between verses) & extremely well sung with full feeling is what defines Iktara..

Wanted to try and write my interpretation of this song.. but stumbled upon a very well written note posted here by Amitabh Iyer which is a nice read and good explanation of the song..

My favorite lines from the song are:

Orey manva tu to bavra hai
Tu hi jaane tu kya sochta hai
Tu hi jaane tu kya sochta hai bavre
Kyun dikhaye sapne tu sote jaagte

Sun rahi hoon sudh budh khoke koi main kahani
Poori kahani hai kya kise hai pata
Main to kisiki hoke yeh bhi na jaani
Ruth hai ye do pal ki ya rehgi sada
kise hai pata… kise hai pata

No one knows the future.. no one knows what's going to happen and only few can try and predict - to believe it is each one's faith :)

The song comes at a point in the movie when Ranbir Kapoor leaves Konkona Sen's house to go back and live with his parents.. and she is wondering what to make out of her feelings for him and will he ever feel like that..

It's a nice listen.. catch it here and if you're a huge fan of the song.. join the fanpage on FB :)

Shukran Allah - Kurbaan

Playback - Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal & Salim Merchant

Music - Salim - Sulaiman

Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi

Shukran Allah is a song that's peaceful, melodious & features Sonu Nigam who makes the song a winner any way :)

It's got a bit of Urdu/Arabic & English which explains what Shukran Allah means. It means thank God or the Almighty..

It's a love duet with a good blend of the flute, guitar, sounds of a payal jingling and some bit of the tabla - all in all it's a good mix and soothes the ear..

Some of my favorite lines are:

Tere saaye mein mili har khushi
Tere marzi meri zindagi
Le chal tu chaahe jahaan

In your shadow and whatever you wish, is my wish.. take me where you want..

Meri aankhon mein nazar teri hai
Meri shaam o sher teri hai
Tu jo nahi to main kahaan

In my eyes, you're always present
You form part of my day and world
If you're not there, then I'm lost..

Khil gayi meri kismat
Paake teri yeh chaahat
Hum pe meherbaan do jahaan

It's my good luck that I have your love.. and someone's being kind :)
Thank God..

Personally, I thought the Saif-Kareena pairing had more of a hype quotient than the so called 'chemistry'.. Saif looks worn out and old.. Kareena Kapoor looks just about ok.. but all said and done, Karan Johar has learnt the art of making films out of the "romance" genre and is producing some good movies (Wake up Sid, My Name is Khan - looks interesting) .. going the Yash Raj way :)

Shukran Allah is one of my favorite tracks.. and will be for quite a while :)

Watch the video here & find lyrics here.

Wake Up Sid (Club Mix) - Wake Up Sid

Playback - Shankar Mahadevan backing vocals by Loy Mendonsa

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Javed Akhtar

Energy, fun, foot tapping music and life is what the club mix of the title song of Wake up Sid brings out. It's a song for all the sleepy heads out there (me included :) ) to wake up and get going!!

It's also about getting your life on track and getting a hold of things after the easy going, pampered life we lead in our school and college days and coming to terms with reality.. learning to fulfill our needs ourselves and being less dependent on our parents.

It's a feel good song to wake you up and the video of this song is just outstanding & Ranbir Kapoor looks too cute .. watch it here:

Hadippa - Dil Bole Hadippa

Playback - Mika Singh & Sunidhi Chauhan

Music - Pritam

Lyrics - Jaideep Sahni

Rani Mukherji's makeover song (having lost oodles of weight), Shahid Kapoor's good item number(could have done with a better hair cut!) and overall, a nice foot tapping number.. full on Punjabi and well sung by Mika!
