Dheere Dheere - Bombay To Bangkok

Playback - Zubeen Garg

Music - Salim - Sulaiman

Lyrics - Mir Ali Hussain

Mausam suhanana.. duniya bhi kitni suhani reminds me of the song 'Mausam Mastana' from the film Satte pe Satta.. what a nice film and song!
Go on to listen a little more.. and it reminds me of KK's "Pal" song and "Pal Pal Har Pal" from Lage Raho Munnabhai..

If you listen to this song from Bombay to Bangkok, it's a very sweet & melodious song.. light on the ear and enjoyable.
My favorite lines from the song
hain nayi aarzoo, raah guzar roobaroo
armaan jaage hai, holle holle kahe, ye bahaar chale yun hi pyar chale
and then..
ek nashaa chha gaya, tera naam aa gaya
honton pe mere, poocha jo hawaa ne, mere yaar bata, tere dil ka pata
jahaan base dil, wahi hain duniya basaani
kitne hasin ye pal, dheere dheere chal zindagani

Sweet song, listen to it sometime.

Same Same But Different - Bombay To Bangkok

Playback - KK, Shreyas Talpade, Lena Christensan

Music - Salim - Sulaiman

Lyrics - Mir Ali Hussain

Same same.. boy falls in love with girl, they get married and live happily ever after.. but different, yes, it's so not like the other Nagesh Kukunoor films.. his other films were way better!

Shreyas Talpade was average and Lena Christensan was alright for her first Bollywood movie.

Coming to the song, it's a good mix of foot - tapping music, Hindi, English & Thai lyrics and yes.. also a tapori feel to it with lines like 'Hello baby, Hi!', ' 'Mann ki meeting', 'Do sau bees volt ki smile', and some more!

Thinking of the title of the film, that's also same same but different.. Bombay to Goa?

If I think a little more about the title of the song, it makes sense.. people looking at the same thing at the same time do have different ways of perceiving it and different ways of looking at it which reminds me of an HSBC ad campaign which is on the same lines and reads as - Different people, different views.

Similarly, in the film , Shreyas Talpade plays an Indian film and Lena Christensan plays a Thai pick up girl and they are from different origins, have different jobs and have different views but then when it comes to love, they are same same. There is jealousy, heartbreak and all of that.. and they make efforts to be like the other..Same same but different!

Silly movie, fun song.. listen to it sometime!

Mera Jahaan - Taare Zameen Par

Playback - Adnan Sami, Auriel Cordo, Ananya Wadkar

Music - Shailendra Barve - Guest composer for this song
(Shankar - Ehsan - Loy for the rest of the songs)

Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi & Amol Gupte

A little sweet a little sour.. is what everything in life is.
There are happy moments & sad moments but you got to live through it.
There are dreams which we all wish were real and then there are nightmares which you wish never happened!

So there's always a mix of sweet & salt in all phases of our lives. It's just that we go through the happy times with ease and so quickly but the sad times are the one's which are difficult.. but well you got to deal with it.

A Little Sweet, A Little Sour
A Little Close Not Too Far
All I Need, All I Need
All I Need Is To Be Free

Is what Inu thinks when he is tired of the daily rut of being unsuccessful and being pulled up by his parents & teachers.. and wants to be free..

Chhoo Loon Main Itna Kareeb
Chal Padun To Kitne Door
Sapna Ka Buna Sweater Sa Warm
Safed Baadalon Ke PaarMera Jahan

He imagines a world of his own, so sweet, so warm and so comfortable.

Udne Ko Sau Pankh Diye Hai
Chadme Ko Khula Aasmaan
Udne Ko Sau Pankh Diye Hai
Chadme Ko Khula Aasmaan
Mudne Ko Hai Karwat Karwat
Aur Badhne Ko Mera Jahan

Are the lines which I think are well sung by Adnan Sami - and it's about how there's no limit, there are no boundaries. There are 100s of options if your willing to try and there are ways to go on.

Bachpan Ke Din Chaar
Na Aayenge Baar Baar
Jee Le Jee Le Mere Yaar

The kido days never come back, make the most of "now"!

Jeib Khaali To Udhaar
Jee Zindagi

And finally, live life to the fullest, even if there are hard times like no money, borrow, live and .. I'd say.. return it some day ! :)

Beautiful song, beautiful music & full marks to Adnan Sami & the gang.

Maa - Taare Zameen Par

Playback - Shankar Mahadevan

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi

Who knows a child better than the mother is a question I think no one can answer. We do grow up in life and feel at times that will our parents ever treat us as grown - ups and not like kids anymore.. but then they are totally justified because when we grow, they grow older too & we will always stay kids for our parents and we should give them the benefit of the way they feel.

There are moments in life when you try and act brave in front of your mother/father but reality is, they see through us and they can read us like an open book!

In this particular song, it's about the son telling the mother that
I am afraid of the darkness but I never say it.
There are times when I don't express my love for you my mother, but I do care a lot but you know it.
Don't leave me amongst strangers, far away so that I can't come back home & you don't even remember me.. Am I really that bad?

Extremely sensitive song, amazing music & I think, it's a must hear for all.

Love you Maa!

Songs From 2007

The year that was.. I think pretty good from a Bollywood point of view. Had some good movies, some good music and some nice performances too.

I decided to make this post a special one (because I'm too lazy) but also didn't want to miss out on the good music which hasn't been featured on my blog. So no specific posts, but I'm going to list a whole lot of songs which I liked in 2007 and didn't feature individually.

1. Tadap Tadap - Darling (skipped this film too!) Yes, it's a Himesh Reshammiya track, but I started liking it from the time I heard it on STAR Voice Of India - sung there by Toshi.

2. Aa Khushi Se Khudkhushi Karle - totally crazy song title I must say, but I like the music a lot. It's a nice catchy number! (But I don't like Nisha Kothari on whom the songs picturised).

3. Show Me Your Jalwa - Aaja Nachle - nice catchy chhamiya song!

4. Tera Mera Rishta (Remix) - Aawarapan - Emraan Hashmi somehow has all the good songs in his films!

5. To Phir Aao (Remix) - Aawarapan - Again!

6. Mindblowing Maahiya - Cash - another song with English & Hindi lyrics.. carry on!

7. Anjana - Dhokaa - The KK version is what I like. Well sung!

8. Dum Laga (Remix) - Dil,Dosti, etc. - this is a completely adult song, so no special post :)

9. Ishq Ka Kalma - Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal - film didn't do too well but John was hot!

10. Jaane Bhi De - Heyy Babyy - forgive and forget!

11. Mast Kalandar - Heyy Babyy - SRK looks sad, but nice song, totally Punjabi.

12. All for One Aaja Nachle (Remix by Dj Suketu) - High School Musical 2 - Nice chirpy number with a little Punjabi by Shankar-Ehsan-Loy.

13. Nagada - Jab We Met - What a fabulous film, and this song is also nice.

14. Yeh Ishq Hai - Jab We Met - Again :) Love can drive you crazy!

15. Hum To Aise Hain Bhaiya - Laaga Chunari Mein Daag - We are like that only :P

16. Ajab Si - Om Shanti Om - One of the biggest hits of 2007, and sweet melody too.

17. Jab Se Tere Naina - Saawariya - Well done Shaan!

18. Masha - Allah - Saawariya - music of a lifetime - nicely sung by Kunal Ganjawala.

19. Aye Ganpat! - Shootout At Lokhandwala - Yeh Ganpat Kaun Hai? :)

20. Woh Ajnabee - The Train - Emraan Hashmi again, sad film though.

21. Hello - Speed - a foot tapping, music song completely.

22. Dus (Remixed by Dj Aqeel) - Dus Kahaniyaan - nice, fast song

23. Jaaniye - Dus Kahaaniyaan

24. Mumbai Salsa - Mumbai Salsa - let's dance!

Wow, a whole lot of songs that were pretty impressive! Here's hoping to a more cheerful, musical and foot tapping 2008!

Kholo Kholo - Taare Zameen Par

Playback - Raman Mahadevan

Music - Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy

Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi

Before I say anything about the song, I think this film was outstanding and a must watch for all parents. Aamir Khan & Darsheel Safary (Ishaan aka Inu) were brilliant!

This song is one that I'd categorise as an "Inspirational" song .. which would fall into the category of Yeh Honsla from Dor & Aashayein from Iqbal. All fabulous songs!

It's all about being there where you're happy and that's your ultimate destination..

At the end of the day, it's all about being happy and I'm beginning to adopt the philosophy, "Don't just be Santusht"(Dish TV!) , "Khush Raho", which leads me to another dialogue "Yeh dil maange more"(The Pepsi slogan) and then another.. "Hasso, jiyo, khush raho, Kya pata, Kal ho na ho"(Kal ho na ho).. too good! :)

Amazing song, music, lyrics and very well sung indeed!

Kholo Kholo Darwaze

Parde Karo Kinare
Khuntey Se Bandhi Hai Hawa
Mil Ke Chhudao Saare

Aajao Patang Leke
Apney Hi Rang Leke
Aasmaan Ka Shamiyana
Aaj Hamein Hai Sajana

Kyun Is Kadar Hairaan Tu
Mausam Ka Hai Mehmaan Tu

O, Duniya Sajee Tere Liye

Tu Dhoop Hain Jham Se Bikhar
Tu Hai Nadee

O Bekhabar
Beh Chal Kahin
Ud Chal Kahin
Dil Khush Jahan
Teri Toh Manzil Hai Wahin

O, Kyun Is Kadar Hairaan Tu
Mausam Ka Hai Mehmaan Tu
(Are my favorite lines)

Baasi Zindagi Udaasi

Taazi Hasney Ko Raazi
Garma Garma Saari
Abhi Abhi Hai Utaari

O, Zindagi To Hain Batasha
Meethi Meethi Si Hai Aasha
Chakh Le Rakh Le
Hatheli Se Dhak Le Ise
Tujh Mein Agar Pyaas Hai
Baarish Ka Ghar Bhi Pass Hai
O, Roke Tujhe Koi Kyon Bhala
Sang Sang Tere Aakash Hai

Tu Dhoop Hain Jham Se Bikhar
Tu Hai Nadee O Bekhabar

Beh Chal Kahin Ud Chal Kahin
Dil Khush Jahan
Teri Toh Manzil Hai Wahin

Khul Gaya Aasmaan Ka Rasta
Dekho Khul Gaya
Mil Gaya Kho Gaya

Tha Jo Sitara Mil Gaya, Mil Gaya

O, Roshan Hui Saari Zameen
Jagmag Hua Saara Jahaan

Udne Ko Tu Azad Hai
Bandhan Koi Abh Hai Kahan

Tu Dhoop Hain Jham Se Bikhar
Tu Hai Nadee
O Bekhabar
Beh Chal Kahin
Ud Chal Kahin

Dil Khush Jahan
Teri Toh Manzil Hai Wahin

O, Kyun Is Kadar Hairaan Tu
Mausam Ka Hai Mehmaan Tu

Khoya Khoya Chand - Khoya Khoya Chand

Playback - Ajay Jhingran & Swanand Kirkire

Music - Shantanu Moitra

Lyrics - Swanand Kirkire

Khoya Khoya Chand (KKC) is a film made by Sudhir Mishra of Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi fame.
It's apparently about the film industry in the 1950s.. and looks also the kind.

Sudhir Mishra is supposedly a renowned film - maker and being a bollywood buff, I passed both his films! I guess it's because they aren't the usual .. and are a little off beat.

Coming to the song.. it sounds like a mix of an old hindi film song & a qawalli is what I think..
& yes, the title of the film and song is from an old song.. "Khoya khoya chand.. khula asmaan..." which was filmed on Dev Anand & Waheeda Rehman from Kala Bazaar (another film I have no clue about :) )

Thirak Thirak is another song from the same album which was ok types.. and
The music director and lyricist is the same team which did Laaga Chunari Mein Daag - they do have a different music style indeed!

The lines worth an ear are:

Aaj shab jo chaand ne hai roothne ki thaan li
Gardishon mein hai sitaare baat hamne maan li
Andheri syaah zindagi ko sujhti nahi gali
Ke aaj haath thaam lo ik haath ki kami khali

Kyun khoye khoye chaand ki firaaq mein talaash mein udaas hai dil
Kyun apane aap se khafa khafa zara zaraasa naaraaz hai dil
Yeh manzilein bhi khud hi tay kare, yeh faasalein bhi khud hi tay kare
Kyu toh rasto pe phir seham seham sambhal sambhal ke chalta hai ye dil
Kyun khoye khoye chaand ki firaaq mein talaash mein udaas hai dil

Change is not something which people can accept easily.. it creates discomfort till the time you adapt to change. Similarly, if you're used to seeing someone each day and then you don't it gives you an unusual feeling.. It's all in the head? All in the heart?

In this song, it's about not seeing the moon and then wanting to pull out the stars in frustration!

Ultimately, it's all about change and learning to deal with and it's all about me telling you that you should hear this song some time :)
